Freeland is situated in a very good location near the lively Leidseplein. You can reach the hotel easily by tram (lines 1, 2 and 5) from the central train station. My first impression of the hotel was very good: the hotel receptionist gave me the hotel map and without asking explained me the most important sights, shopping streets etc. He even offered to come with me to the red light district in case me, a single woman, wouldn't feel comfortable in going there by myself. Maybe that was a rare occurrence, but still, I would call that great service. The room (a single room with en suite bathroom with shower) was tiny but clean. The window was towards the street so I could hear noises from a bar and the traffic but they weren't too loud for me. The only "complaints" I could think of about the room are that there were too little places to hang things (e.g. I couldn't hang my towel anywhere in the bathroom) and that there was no big mirror. The breakfast was served from 8 to 10.30 am. It was served to your table and it included coffee/tea, orange juice, toast, boiled egg, ham and cheese. I would've hoped a bit more variety, maybe vegetables or yogurt, but overall the breakfast was adequate. All hotel visitors had an access to a computer in the hotel lobby and there was free wireless internet connection in the room. All in all the hotel stay was very nice and I would recommend the hotel for its great location, friendly staff and fairly low price.
