My wife and I recently booked three nights in a King Suite (Feb 14-17) because the property was close to the strip, didn't have a casino, and had a strict non-smoking policy. Upon arrival, however, our non-smoking room and the entire hallway had a strong unpleasant odor (much like marijuana). My wife, who is not normally sensitive to smells, got a headache after five minutes of exposure.
I promptly returned to the front desk to see if we could switch rooms, but there were none available; they sent someone to deodorize our room which reduced the foul odor, but added a strong chemical smell; we left for the strip to let the room air out, but when we returned three hours later it still smelled awful.
For context, we can tolerate some smell -- we've previously stayed in a cheap casino hotel near Vegas where the room and hallway smelled like cigarette smoke -- but we couldn't stay here.
I spent an hour on the phone looking for a different hotel, then asked the Serene to cancel our stay and refund what they could. They refunded the resort fees ($115), but not the cost of the room ($420 -- the irony, right?). Hotels.com wasn't able to secure any additional refund either, but they did give us $50 OneKeyCash for the trouble.
TL;DR Don't stay here. Our non-smoking room was dingy and stunk of smoke, and the staff were disorganized and rude (except for the supervisor, she was professional and kind). We had to cancel our stay because of the smell, and were denied a full refund.
