Unique stay
We had fallen in love with Artist Residence in Brighton so we wanted to stay in this fab hotel in Penzance, too. We stayed in the newest add to the hotel rooms, the cottage. Wow! If you want a unique country style cottage just for you and your family or friends, then this is your choice. We were blown away by the great interior of this unique cottage in the backyard of the hotel. Although every little detail was very well thought of (like in every Artist Residence room) and the design was fabulous, we do have some minor issues to complain about. First of all, the heating radiators were off so the cottage was cold and moist. In the seaside the coldness goes into your bones, so this was rather unpleasant. The wifi did not function inside the cottage and the TV was out of function, too. Unfortunately none of these issues were taken seriously or resolved during our stay so it left a little bad taste to our mouth... One huge downside to the creative interior design is the raw wood floors - you literally cannot walk with only your socks on. Beware of the walls, too, as the raw wood material leaves nasty sticks and scratches there, too. The hotel should offer complimentary slippers to the guests staying in the cottage. In total, given the downsides the cottage was not full value to its high price. I would rather try the rooms inside the hotel in case we'd want to come back to this hotel. The restaurant was good and served a great tasting menu - definitely recommendable!
