There were four of us, with a BIT of luggage, so we took a taxi from the railway station. It's about 15 mins walk from the station to the guest house, so if you are backpaking it should not to be a problem. With heavy luggage take a taxi.
We got two first floor rooms (the same floor where the reception is), I took a room looking on the miniscule yard, my friends had a street view - with a balcony!
As there is double glazing, I shouldn't have worried about noise.
The beds were firm enough, and the shower well functioning. Also the rooms are well sized.
Downstairs next to the breakfast room there are the honesty bar and the guests' own fridge.
And on the first floor there is a nice common rooms with comfy chairs, papers etc.
Breakfasts are ... fulfilling. Eggs Beneditc, bacon, muesli, yoghurt, juice, ... You name it.
The service was also more like in a Hilton.
The Royal Crescent is a few hundred metres uphill, so the place is surprisingly well situated,
even if it seems to be a bit on the side of the city proper. Also very near is The Herschel Museum.
And yes, there were crystal chandeliers in our rooms :-)
