I booked the hotel for one night as a treat for my husband's birthday, but shouldn't have bothered as it was a waste of money.
The surroundings and hotel looks beautiful from the outside but that's where it stopped. We felt unwelcomed by staff from the start, whose costumed service was underwhelming by English standards. The hotel was huge and it was diffucult to find our room in the wing. The room was spacious but basic and the beds not very big or comfortable. Worse than what we are used to from a much cheaper hotel. The TV wasn't working properly.
I had chosen the hotel because of the pool where we wanted to go swimming with our kids and had asked in advance and been told what times children are allowed. However, we didn't know children aren't allowed in the hot tub so felt very disappointed to be asked to leave and weren't given an explanation. Luckily the water in the pool was warmed to 30C. The sauna was also heated properly to 80C. The showers were great but the changing rooms were wet and cold and could do with underfloor heating.
After swimming we ordered room service but when we called after an hour we were told our order had been lost!?
The breakfast was the only thing I cannot fault, there was a great selection, lovely fresh bread loaves, pastries, fruits, bircher musli and Greek yoghurt etc etc, as well as cooked breakfast. I suspect you could even order more but we weren't informed.
