Bad Beds, Smoky Shuttle, Nice Staff
Our stay at the Fairfield Inn DFW started off rough due to the airport shuttle. Our flight arrived around 10:45 PM, and we called the hotel right after landing. We were told we had to walk to the designated pickup location before requesting the shuttle—an unexpected hassle. Once we arrived and called again, the shuttle came about 20 minutes later but couldn't take us due to other scheduled pickups. He said he'd be back in 15 minutes but took closer to 45. During that time, we stood outside late at night with tired kids. The van itself had a cracked windshield and smelled like cigarette smoke—not what you'd expect from a Marriott brand.
Check-in was quick, and the driver went above and beyond by taking me to Raising Cane’s a couple miles out of range since everything else was closed. My wife loved the shower’s water pressure, and I ended up showering too after a terrible night’s sleep. The beds were extremely uncomfortable—sinking badly at the edges—and the pillows were way too firm. I woke up sore and stiff. My son showered as well, and we headed down for breakfast. It was okay, but the selection was limited, especially for a Fairfield.
The staff were friendly and tried to help, but the poor shuttle experience, uncomfortable beds, and sketchy van made this an overnight stay I wouldn’t want to repeat.
