We chose to stay at Bishop Arts Hotel because we needed a room with a sitting area, which it had and was quite comfortable. The hotel is along a streetcar line and has a parking lot for guests so it is easliy accessible.
There is no food onsite at the hotel, and the 'nearby' food options are more than a short walk away (only a 5-7min drive, but a 20-30 minute walk) which is not as convenient as we had hoped for.
While the rooms are clean the textiles are a bit worn. The hand towels were fraying at the edges, the bathmat had a hole in it, and the bedspread had a cigarette burn in it. The bed was comfortable in terms of firmness, but the plastic-y liner on the mattress made it feel like a hospital bed. The coffee maker in our room didn't work, but there is one in the lounge on the main floor that we used instead. We were there during a cold snap so we can confirm that the heating in the room worked well.
There isn't a reception desk at the hotel, so you recieve a message before check-in with door codes. We hadn't seen the message before arriving so we were a bit confused for a few minutes, but we were greeted by a friendly staff member while we were trying to find the codes who let us in.
Since it was snowing when we were there we didn't try the pool, but it looked very nice.
Overall it was nice enough, but we'd probably pick something closer to restaurants for our next visit to Dallas if we don't have a car.
