In all our travels, we have never taken the time to write a review on a property. With what we had to deal with at San Salvatore Monastery, I feel compelled to share our experience. We mistakenly stated two people when making the reservation online instead of our party of 4. On our arrival, the proprietor, Irene Anousaki, let us know that there would be an upcharge for the two children, and it would be double the price for the same room. The unit we were given had a loft with a queen bed and the downstairs area had a double bed, a bathroom and a kitchen. The kitchen unbelievably did not have a refrigerator, and when we inquired about this, Irene responded that the kitchen itself does not come with the unit…with no explanation...and that food was not allowed to be brought into the unit. As far as the beds…the double had an extremely hard mattress We asked to have a topper applied to make it tolerable for our second night and it was supplied for an additional 10 euros. What really put a bad taste in our mouth about San Salvatore Monastery was our checkout. Check-out time was stated as 11:00 AM. We notified Irene that we were checking out a just a few minutes after 11 am (11:15 to be exact) and we were then told that we would be charged an additional 150 euros for leaving 15 minutes late! She eventually agreed to not charge us given our dissatisfaction with our stay, but she ended up charging us anyway.
