Wonderful hotel
The hotel was beautifully designed. The restaurant has a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains. The view from our room was fantastic well. We weren’t there long enough to experience additional facilities. The man and woman at the desk when we checked in were very helpful in trying to help us track down a lost wallet and they even let us borrow a flashlight. The bed was comfortable. My only complaint is that the sink is very small so water got splashed when I was washing my face. However this is pretty standard in Iceland so I won’t deduct any stars for that small annoyance. Breakfast was good and they had great coffee. We saw the northern lights. Overall great stay.

The most wonderful location! Quaint and Quality are the words I would use to describe this hotel. Boutique style. Staff was excellent, friendly and extremely knowledgeable of area. Mikki the dog was a lovely surprise and super cute. Food both for breakfast (included with room) and dinner were expertly prepared. We watched the Northern Lights from our bed and then took photos in the parking lot and all around the grounds. Loved the hot tubs!! Would return and stay again. Highly recommend

8/10 Very Good

This property did not live up to my expectations- I expected it to be much nicer based on pics and reviews. Not only were the bathrooms small (as mentioned in many other reviews) but the sinks were so tiny and so low, and at such an odd angle, that it was impossible to wash my face without my feet and the floor getting soaked. There was no counter space in the bathroom. Unfortunately, we stayed there on a rainy day, and it just wasn’t the type of room. You really wanted to spend a lot of time in. On a positive note, we did have dinner there one evening, and it was excellent, both the food, the service, and the setting.

Great facility, we wish we stayed there extra time. Make sure to have breakfast and dinner at the hotel, it is one of the best during our trip while in Iceland. I had the best pork chop dish there. Will visit again if I have a chance again.

Great stay!
Absolutely beautiful hotel. Very friendly staff and a sweet little dog to great you in the lobby. Hot tubs and cold plunge were very enjoyable. QR codes around different seating areas to order food and drinks and have them brought to you. The passion fruit lemonade is delicious.

Beautiful Hotel
Loved this hotel. Beautiful lobby. The breakfast included with your stay is wonderful. Fruit, meats, cheeses, oatmeal, cereal, bread, veggies, eggs, etc. The hot tubs and cold plunge are very relaxing. Ask for housecoats at the front desk. Would 100% stay again.

Lovely updated hotel with beautiful views and great staff. The buffet breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day and the restaurant views are amazing. The hot tubs were an unexpected surprise and we used both nights of our stay. Room was on the small side but suited our needs and the beds were very comfortable

After driving just over 4 hours from the Westfjords, we realized that we left behind a carry on. We approached the front desk and asked if he could help us reach the inn we were staying at. It turns out the police had our bag and he called the police and asked them to put the bag on Iceland air cargo and we could have it by the time we went to Reykjavik, the next day! He ended up being the assistant manager. Sure enough we got our bag when we arrived in Reykjavik. We were soooo thankful that we did not have to make the drive back to the Westfjords to pick up our bag! Service was fantastic, the food was excellent in the hotel with great views, and the hot spring bath was relaxing. Theodore at the restaurant also gave us excellent service! Stay where the locals stay! : ) Thank you Arnar for your outstanding service!
Pork chops were moist and succulent.
Artic Char was really tasty and seasoned well!
We got our bag back! Thank you , Arnar for your quick thinking problem solving mind! : )

Beautiful property and the in hotel restaurant was amazing food. Short drive to a geothermal bath nearby too. The rooms were a little warm for me, but I don't think Iceland has AC. Definitely worth the stay.

8/10 Very Good

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Varmaland. The property was beautiful. The room was nice and spacious. The bathroom was very small. The sink was so small that it was almost unusable. The shower did have a curtain; however, the shower itself was so little that the curtain kept rubbing up against you. We loved the breakfast and it was included with the stay.
