The room was very small and I guess ok quality in Mediterranean country standards. But we were looking for only a budget-priced private bed to sleep in within reasonable walking distance of all Venice's attractions, so for that the room was very good.
As an afterthought maybe some other hotel closer to Piazza San Marco would have been better, because the walking distances are pretty deceitful in Venice: the alleys etc take a lot more steps and time than you'd think, maybe even 3+ times more compared to the almost straight lines that I've been used to, depending on also how adventurous routes you choose and how much you look around on your way. (And yes, there is so, so, so much to see!) Because of that we tended to use the vaporetto (kind of canal bus) almost everyday at least once which is kind of costly if you are on a budget.
But on the other hand, food etc. would have also been more expensive closer to Piazza San Marco, so for a budget traveler this hotel was a good find with good food close by and Venice was just behind the hotel door. Nothing concrete to complain about really.
