Next time ... perhaps some other place
Centrally located hotel, smooth check-in. That's the part that met expectations. What did not was near-complete lack of English skills of those at front desk. I managed to get taxi reservation for early next morning, however the staff could not tell me how much in advance I need to get to airport to catch a domestic flight. In the morning I was not given - despite requesting - a receipt for my stay. Unbelievable.
Keycards seem to be less common in Japan (outside of Tokyo). This was the "other" hotel I used during this trip and a single regular key was provided at both, despite of # of occupants (2).
The room was so small, that the double bed occupied in 95%. There was not even enough space to open the suitcase on the floor without blocking the door. I have used to small rooms in Japan, however this was rock bottom in that aspect.
