My initial observation when walking into the lobby was there was an odd smell and the wall to the left with the lights on it was speckled with what looked as if someone sprayed soda all over it. It clearly hasn’t been wiped down for quite some time.
The gentleman at the desk was friendly and checked me right in. As I walked into the room, I believe room 327 I was hit with an even stronger more prominent odor. It’s hard to explain, but something like an old warehouse mixed with a pungent electrical smell. I almost went down and asked for a new room but I was exhausted after a 15 hour drive from North Carolina and didn’t want to hassle with it.
One of the 3 pillows had what looked like makeup on it. Either they didn’t replace the pillow case or it rubbed off from the housekeeper. Either way, it was unacceptable. But again, I was exhausted after my drive.
The back of the door looked like the wall downstairs, again as if someone sprayed soda or even sneezed on it.
The fridge door and wall where the TV was, was smudged up as well. The housekeeping staff clearly doesn’t have a strong work ethic.
I could also hear a kid in the room directly across the hall from me until I finally fell asleep. Sound proofing is non existent in this motel.
The reason for 2 stars rather than 1 is because the guy at the desk was friendly, the bathroom was decently clean, there was hot water, and the mattress was comfy. I was well rested in the morning.
And now, I will never book a Motel 6 again.
