This hotel is clearly not a four star hotel. It might have been years ago, but time has really passed it by. And when you book a four star hotel and end up with ALEGRIA Portomagno (strugling to be even a 3 star), your disappointment is a guarantee.
Pros:
- Staff was helpful with a good service attitude
Cons:
- Air conditioning didn't work (when fixed there was too options: freezing breeze in the room or off)
- Shower only had the hand held shower, not a place to put it hanging from the wall. The usual shower was deactivated, might have had something to do with the moisture damage in the bathroom ceiling
- Balcony door didn't block ANY noise
- We couldn't get drinks on the tap of the room in ANY of the hotel bars, no access to the system they said
- In only one of three hotel bars we could pay with card
- Food was close to terrible. We were hoping before our first dinner that the restaurant would compensate our disappointment. We were wrong. When you go for a dinner in a "four star hotel" you have certain hopes, but when you sit down on an uncomfortable seat in a really basic buffet with dry tasteless meats, boring salad table and extremely artificial desserts, you can't be more disappointed. And as a cherry on a cake the toasters of the breakfast buffet didn't toast.
I don't usually complain about hotels, well I actually haven't had anything to complain uo until now. I've always got what I ordered. But not with Portomagno I got maybe a 2 star experience in a 4 star hotel
