Location of the hotel is convenient close to central station. Personnel and service in general was super good, but otherwise value for money quite low. While value for money in Switzerland is always a difficult question, in this case particularly. There were several factors in play. Food was ok, but a bit pricey for what you get, the decoration was ok, but a bit worn off. Overall the maintenance of the venue could be better (something broken in the shower, drain in the shower didn't work super well, some minor damage in the furniture). Maybe it's time for a bigger remake of the hotel. Also I can't get past the fact that how ugly the building is. Kind of common problem in Zurich that has seen many of its buildings built during the certain period of time, but even in this group this one is particularly ugly.
Overall I don't like these big chain venues. While labeled as a 5-star hotel, I have managed to find 4-star venues that are better in most respects (except the quality of service, which was honestly speaking good and most parts at 5-star level). And perhaps someone who's less allergic to the chain venues might appreciate the "chain standards" more.
