This Days Inn is definitely a motel rather than a hotel, but a very affordable option for the area without any of the major drawbacks of a non-chain motel.
Pros:
-Affordability
-The water quality was fantastic, my difficult curly hair has never been happier
-Location was great, only a few minutes' drive to the nearest Metro station, and only a few minutes to downtown Alexandria as well as National Harbor
-The beds were surprisingly comfortable, with nice fluffy pillows.
-Strong air conditioning!
Cons:
-The smell. The room had that classic motel smell, musty mixed with old, old cigarettes. It was not what I would expect from a Days Inn/Wyndham property, and was quite unpleasant. I had to wash literally everything I brought to the hotel when I got back home, as the smell permeated every piece of clothing and soft surface
-The tub in the room was clearly just plopped down on top of a preexisting tub, and weirdly bubbled up in parts, which I could feel stepping around the tub as I showered.
The continental breakfast was serviceable, I appreciated the waffle station although fresh fruit instead of fruit cups would have been great. The rooms were reasonably clean if dated, as was the bedding (minus the old burn marks in some of the sheets).
