The Colums was a choise made accidentally, but it turned out to be the best hotel we experienced in all of our 4 weeks' stay in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. This hotel is perfectly located in the center of the town, near 150m from the riverbank where all the people stroll come night time, and 100m from a very nice restaurant Rikitikitavi. The hotel rooms are very large, clean and comfortable (this goes for the bathrooms too) and the rooms even have free coffee, music systmem to attach your iPhone to and two umbrellas for you convenience if it is the rainy season. This hotel is is a French era building but it is totally refurbished from the inside and is a very lovely, cozy boutique hotel (without small rooms, which the word "boutique" often may refer to). The breakfast (included) was bread, eggs, bacon, coffee and orange juice, not much but same level as all hotels during our 4 week journey. The staff was very lovely including the cleaning personnel and the reception assisted us with posting our cards, finding a restaurant and most importantly, went to get us tickets for a minivan that wook us straight across the Vietnamese boarder (Prek Chak to Xia Xa), be paid 18 dollars pax and another 2USD at the boarder and the Columns helped us organize this trip that we had feared for 2 weeks in advance. Everything went smoothly. This hotel is worth 4 stars to us and regret not staying there for longer than one night.
