While the hotel room was nice and tidy, and cleaned every day, the staff at the hotel was either bored or uninterested in serving the customers. The employees were more interested in what was going on in the computer screens at the reception, rather than noticing approaching hotel guests and asking how they might help them. We felt like every time we needed to deal with someone at the reception, we were interfering with their work and just making them more annoyed.
In addition, during a week's stay, we had to leave our rooms twice during early morning fire alarms. Once we and some of the hotel guests had made it from our rooms to the reception, in both occasions there was an annoyed staff member behind the counter talking on the phone and simply grunting and waving their hand at us, like we were idiots for following the emergency plan and leaving our rooms. We then returned back to our rooms and went back to sleep.
While the hotel and the room were clean and air conditioned, the staff did not live up to 4 star experience, which we thought we were paying for. The cleaning staff were the friendliest, and greeted us with a smile every morning and evening. Reception staff on the other hand, was very much a disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend, because as a person with a customer service background, I expect much more from people who have chosen this line of work. If you want to do just the bare minimum to serve customers, I suggest you change jobs.
