Disappointing hotel near Nanjing Road
Stayed for one night in "city view" room. The view that was promised was below par, and the windows had not been washed in ages. The hotel seemed to have many ways to gather some extra money from their customers. I paid for watching a usual action movie for 15 minutes in the evening when flicking through the channels, with no announcement or warning that it was something you would have to pay separately. The water bottles in the room (which are usually offered for free in many Shanghai hotels) were not free, but you might easily think so since the water bottles were on the table, not in the minibar. The staff could speak English, but it seemed to be difficult to negotiate about anything. One would expect a much better level at a hotel like the Riverbund, advertising to be a high-quality hotel. There are many nicer hotels nearby. Not recommended!
