We enjoyed our 4-night stay at The Hilltop Inn in Newport. We stayed in the Kay Room and were highly impressed by the cleanliness of the room, and the kindness of the room staff in providing an ice bucket and glasses (without being asked!) when we brought back a bottle of wine from a local vineyard. The decor and the grounds of the building are lovely and well kept. The back courtyard is also a nice place to hang out with a coffee in the morning, and the entrance to the house was a cool relief from the crazy heat outside. Breakfast is served daily, but we only partook of that on our first day, preferring to wander down the street in search of a cold brew coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The location is convenient in that it is far enough away from the hubbub of the waterfront area, but close enough to walk to it. A big hotel across the street has weddings regularly, but the only real noise we heard was some occasional music from that. It is a well-trafficked road, though, so be prepared for morning trash trucks and sometimes loud bass from cars at night. Parking can be tight at the Inn, depending on the type of vehicle you drive, and depending on how others park beside you. We only had one morning where it was a bit too close for our liking, but from then on we were able to safely open and close the car doors without dinging anyone, and without concern of being dinged. We would stay again. Note: children are allowed.
