When we got to our ground floor room it was like a sauna. The room was at the corner of the building with two windows. The thin net like curtains had been closed but not the blinds and therefore the sun had been shining into the room for the whole afternoon. The room and the bathroom were both very small - room cramped by 3rd bed we had not requested and tiny shower. There was no air-conditioning in the room and only one of the windows opened. My wife slipped on the rug on the wooden floor. The television was on the wall beside the bed so I hit my head twice going to the bathroom. But it was the heat that bothered us most.
We asked if we could change rooms. We were told the hotel was full. She actually said the rooms on the first and second floor were even worse - as if we were lucky!
As we had booked 6 months in advance I was disappointed we had been allocated such a poor room. She gave us a very small fan - it was useless. A few minutes later she brought a larger fan and a bottle of water. Even with both fans on and the window fully open, the room remained hot. We couldn’t sleep. During the night I was sweating - discovered there was a plastic mattress cover on the bed - such as might be used for children. On top of all that the Wi-Fi was poor, the breakfast was dire (eggs cut into squares, no bacon, poor bread and only watermelon - no other fruit. And we had paid €76!!
When we complained to the manager in the morning - no refund, no compensation.
