6/10 Good

Not what I was expecting for downtown Charleston, but it didn't have a great rating to begin with so I shouldn't have been surprised. The furniture was worn and stained. The coffee area could only serve one person at a time, comfortably. The Staff was very nice but not very well schooled on customer service. I don't think a receptionist should stop in the middle of checking me in to answer the phone, except to maybe say "please hold". She then proceeded to give directions to someone while I'm standing there waiting.

Beautiful location and very cool venue. Room wasn't ready when we arrived (at 4pm), and the valet brought the wrong car when we were trying to leave.

Very good location

It was amazing! Very good location. Big room.

Good hotel, excellent location!

hotel overall was ok, it is older and the furniture is very dated. The bed was very squeaky. However, the service was good and the location can't be beat! For the price and locations I would stay again!

Nice character and fantastic location

Can't beat staying right on East Bay if you're visiting Charleston. Our room had charm with exposed brick walls and wood floors. It was a very comfortable room. For the price we paid compared to others, I thought it was very reasonable.

In the heart of the Historic District

Overnight stay for business meeting. Excellent location and close to all of the major Charleston destinations.

Great location

friendly polite service, valet was great. The room was large and very cozy and the fireplace was a nice touch. The location is fantastic, easy walking distance to the water as well as meeting, market and king streets. There are plenty of restaurant and bar options close by. The only downside was the room blinds did not block out the street lights so the room was quite bright when the lights were turned off and there was quite a bit of traffic noise from east bay street.

Superior

Every aspect of the stay was outstanding. Suite quality and location are perfectly Charleston. Personal service delivered was exceptional and refreshing.

Best location and wonderful service!

Location is the best in the city! Wonderful service and great front desk staff! Beds are high off the ground, so you have to use a step to get on it and we only had the steps on one side , for 2 of us.

8/10 Very good

Great location.

Enjoyed my stay greatly. Just need to get a tv in living room area.

2/10 Poor

Was not at all satisfied with this hotel We had booked a room with a fireplace and balcony The room they gave us had neither. When I showed them my confirmation papers saying that I was to have a room with a fireplace and balcony. Their response was that they never promise that and hotels .com should never have guaranteed that. However, they did change our room but he room was dirty and we saw 2 cockroaches. When we complained about the bugs we were told that they try to keep it under control by spraying and "would we like our room sprayed now". So, that was managements response. I would never stay in that hotel again. Too expensive for such a dirty place and management really has no concern for pleasing it's clients.

2/10 Poor

Great location, horrible hotel.

The hotel staff was not interested in making this a good experience. We checked in early and were told our room would be put at the top of the list to be cleaned and they would call when it was ready. They never called and we finally got in right at the "guaranteed" check in time of 4:00pm by going to the front desk and asking if the room was ready. Saturday night, after 10:00pm, the people in the room above us were unbelievably loud. We called the front desk twice to ask the staff to intervene. During the second call I stated that if nothing was done I would go up and speak to them myself. I was told that was my "prerogative." I did have to go upstairs since the noise continued unabated. I asked the parents to stop their children from jumping off the beds onto the floor. Unfortunately, the noise continued off and on until midnight. There are many wonderful hotels and inns in Charleston and we will find one of them for our next visit.

Great location!

We loved our stay at the Lodge Alley Inn! All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and well kept. And the location was AMAZING! So nice to walk out the front door and be in the middle of downtown and easy walking distance to a huge assortment of shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Will definitely stay at the Lodge Alley Inn again!

10/10 Exceptional

Such a convenient location!

Just drop your car off and forget it. Close to many, many restaurants, bars, shopping and the market. Our room was spacious and conveniently located on the outside of the hotel where we could open our door and be right on the street. No lobbies, no elevators. There is also a very nice courtyard to relax in with a fountain. My husband and I were very impressed. If we had a complaint, it would be that I asked for a king bed and got a queen but the overall Charleston feel of the place made me forget that very easily. We will be back!

Good Stay

Would go back and reccomend. The only thing i did not like was 10AM checkout. That's a little early!

Lodge Alley Inn - perfect location for foodies

Right in the middle of all the restaurants down town... Terrific, hotel, very clean and the folks there were nice. Do your own research on restaurants before you talk to the concierge...

Lodge Alley Inn - perfect get away

Stayed one night for a graduation and it was great. Perfect location to the clubs and restaurants at night, and shopping during the day. Couldn't ask for better accomodations. Staff was friendly and professional. Valet park your car and forget it. Highly recommended.

THE LODGE ALLEY INN

ONLY NEGATIVE: Price-gouged us with valet parking PLUS tipping the valets! And watch out for salespeople all over you in the lobby! SUPER PLUS: Hotel was beautiful and romantic though!!! We will absolutely be back!!!

Manager was a [*]

Hotel was in heart of charleston, historic and beautiful. Took over an hour to get checked in because of [...]mistake which was very annoying!!!! The front desk guy was very nice but dealing with the manager the next day was quite frustrating, he was very condesending and acted as if we were trying to check out of the hotel without paying!! We prepaid! Left me with a very bad taste in my mouth!

10/10 Exceptional

Good Place to Stop

I stayed at this hotel as a mid-point for a relocation move. The hotel was very clean - perhaps even very recently updated. Quite, comfortable and safe - all the qualities I look for in my travels. Very easy access off the highway, too, but there is only one local gas station which is very small and very busy. There is a McDonald's, but no other food choices at that exit. Plan your food and gas ahead of time and it's a great stop!
