Going to Petrified Forest? A good place to stay
This hotel is a good place to stay if you're going to Petrified Forest. It's the closest to the interstate in the direction of the park. It was a little ways out of town but we could drive to town in a matter of minutes. We were disappointed that no one was on duty when we arrived after a long day of driving. A sign on the desk said they will be back ASAP - how long is that, exactly? Another family arrived when we did and also looked disappointed. This was about 5 pm. I don't begrudge anyone taking a break, being short-staffed, or checking something on the property, but a timeline would have been helpful. We used the time to go eat dinner, and when we came back, someone was at the desk. They were friendly and efficient. The room was fine. The basic innerspring mattress was not comfortable. Maybe it's me, I had gotten used to those thick comfy "hotel beds" at most other places? I figured out later that the foundation on my bed was broken on one side so I brought it to the attention of management. Breakfast was okay (not a fan of dehydrated reconstituted eggs), it was hot and plentiful. I liked that the facility was very clean and the wi-fi was strong.
