While this place is further out, it’s definitely worth it. The views were incredible. It’s very quiet. The beach is very close. We ate dinner there. It was extremely good. All of the staff were very friendly.

Great location to get to see the Puffins on the clogs about 20 minutes away. An old hotel but the rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Ok for that one night we were here for - explore the areas attraction. Bunk-bed was ok. Breakfast was ok. Shower boxes on a row works. Staff was entusiastic. Rare experiance - felt a bil like a remote expedition center. Happy memory.

Comfortable stay! Remote location with gravel road driving! Best mid-night Sunset from Room window! Great breakfast! Friendly staff! 30 mins drive to best puffin viewing spot in west fjords!

We stayed one night in a double room in the building separate from the main hotel. The room was clean, warm and functional. The view of the open area toward the ocean from inside was excellent. The beach is beautiful there! We ate dinner and breakfast in the dining room. The food was delicious and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The only downside is that it was raining and very windy basically the whole time that we were there so every time we wanted to go to the main hotel area we had to go out in it. In spite of that, I would stay there again as we enjoyed our stay.

It's the only hotel in the area but they really do things right. Great staff, good food, and such a different experience. I'll admit it was weird being somewhere where Wi-Fi wasn't readily available, but it also made it fun. It's a lovely hotel in such a desolate but yet beautiful Northern Ireland. Highly recommend!

The owner, Birna, makes this place shine. Very friendly, funny, and personable. She was the highlight of our stay. Our room was clean and very spacious. The bed was great and we slept very well. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area ran by a wonderful owner.

The hotel was a very Icelandic "stretch" facility with a dozen rooms or more in an unattractive row. Once inside, though, the accommodations were good. The best was the staff, especially the owner, who went out of her way to keep us entertained long after opening hours. THE PUFFINS is why you want to be there. Of all of the places in Iceland, these Puffins were the most accessible, and least overcrowded by tourists.

If you come between aug-Apr, do not stay in this place. They charged for using kitchen and bed linens separately $24/person. I end up has to used my sleeping bed on the bared bed. If you want to use kitchen another $24/person. And there is no puffins on the cliff in Aug. And free wifi only works in the lobby not the room!!!

NO shower available if your room includes only a shared bathroom. NO bath towels provided, so be aware before you book of these limitations! Guests will need sleeping bag for their bunk beds because no bed linens provided, so bring your pillow cases. Rooms have one electirc outlet only, so choose between your room light and charging your phone or laptop. The kitchen facilities are basic and do not have paper towels. The Bird Cliffs are a 3o minute rough and dangerous dirt road trip each way, and the puffins are not as plentiful. The

Closest to the Latrabjarg Cliffs puffin colony!

Hotel Breidavik is all about location, location, location. Its not a place you stumble upon by chance, it's specifically the closest place you can stay to the puffin and other bird colonies at Latrabjarg Cliffs. And this is an area mostly serviced by rough, unpaved roads, so being close makes it much more likely that you will go and see the birds multiple times, even during a short stay. And it makes it easier to bird watch late at night when the birds remain active. The nearest town with multiple hotels to choose from looks close on a map but is almost an hour away because of the road quality, whereas Hotel Breidavik is just a few minutes from the bird action. The hotel has a combination of rooms with private bathrooms, rooms with shared bathrooms, basic rooms without linens, and also a campsite. This is quite an interesting combination, and ultimately very useful, as there are unusual features like laundry facilities and a shared kitchen and eating area, in addition to the more expected bar and restaurant. But plan ahead - you need to check in advance where gas stations and supermarkets are. And the (long) drive to Breidavik is a bit more relaxed (and takes less gas) if you take the Stykkishólmur to Brjánslækur ferry, perhaps both ways, perhaps even with a stopover on Flatey Island. But taking the ferry reduces the number of supermarkets you'll see on the way from two to one! Hotel Breidavik is a fantastic find with the friendliest owner!
