Hong Kong

What you need to know before you go

Hong Kong Island, located south of Hong Kong, is the state’s historical, political and economic centre. The central district of the island is where you can find towering skyscrapers housing international businesses and financial offices, while the northern area forms the southern side of Victoria Harbour, which is largely responsible for the development of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Island is also home to many attractions – you can visit Man Mo Temple (the oldest Buddhist shrine in the city), hike Victoria Peak or Dragon’s Back Hike for panoramic views of the city, and enjoy impressive light-and-sound shows at Hong Kong’s A Symphony of Lights. There are 6 MTR lines connecting Hong Kong Island to the rest of the state, making it easy for travellers looking to explore neighbouring districts, such as Kowloon, Causeway Bay, and the New Territories.
