Beautiful Property, But Disappointing Hospitality
The location and setting of Seven Gables Inn are undeniably stunning—serene ocean views, peaceful surroundings, and a beautifully maintained Victorian-style property that feels like a step back in time. The charm of the building and attention to historical detail are truly impressive.
However, our experience with the staff left a lot to be desired. Over the course of our three-day stay, every interaction with the front desk was cold and unwelcoming. None of the receptionists greeted us with a smile or made any effort to be friendly or accommodating. It was especially disheartening considering the high price point and the fact that this is a hospitality business.
A particularly upsetting incident occurred when I cut my foot on a sharp edge of a Victorian side table in the lobby. It was bleeding quite a bit, and when I asked for help, the receptionist simply told me they didn’t have any band-aids—offering no concern or assistance.
Upon checkout, we were asked to drop our keys without even a simple thank-you or goodbye. For a boutique inn that markets itself on charm and service, this level of disengagement was disappointing.
While we were aware there wouldn’t be daily housekeeping, the lack of warmth or effort from the staff throughout our stay made the experience feel impersonal and uninviting. Unfortunately, I’d rate the service experience below a 1.
