It is very charming, historic, romantic and in a very quiet semi-rural setting with birds not cars for pleasant nature noise. Yet it is only about 10 minutes drive to cross the Loire into Amboise and visit its chateaux and Leonardo da Vinci's home and burial place (in a chapel). It is also central in the Loire Valley, with our short-list of key chateaux to visit easily accessible in 10 to 50 minutes by car. This smaller chateau was originally a religious lodge/building and is now owned and run by a private family who live here. It has beautiful grounds with garden and trees, even an outdoor swim pool. Our hostess (who lives here) was available, responsive and very nice. She gave good tips about the area, including a wonderful Farmer's Market on Friday morning. We spoke French mostly but she does speak English. Our generous breakfast had custom choices - she even provided non-cow milk and cheese for me (due to my allergy). The room, bed, bath were all quite comfortable, roomy, charming with views in 2 directions of the valley and the grounds. And free car parking on premises. We were delighted! We heartily recommend this place for a visit to the Loire Valley by car.
