Lovely hotel. Comfortable good size rooms. They whole place is very attractive and the pool area is a real treat.
You need a car to experience this area properly. Neither of us drive, so we used the hotel shuttle service to the bus stop and then used public transport to get to Rethymno. Further out then we thought but gorgeous scenery.
Two big down sides for us was the quality and variation of food and the price of drinks.
The bar was extortionate. A half draft pint cost almost €5 and the cheapest wine was around €8 for a pretty poor quality wine.
The food was very similar for each meal and over salted. The hotel says they use local farm produce, but if this is the case there is no need. They cover up any flavours with salt. The dining room is also FULL of flys, dead and alive, and we found them buried in the food at the buffet. After that we stopped eating in the hotel, despite paying for half board.
If you can pay for just a room, or even bed and breakfast I'd recommend this hotel. Go to a local supermarket for drinks and snarks, then rent a car and explore the beauty of Crete.
