View from reception lobby is instant postcard scene - lush garden, pool area, ocean - that makes you pat yourself in the back for a good choice.
Pool area is excellent: main pool with cave & waterfall, infinity pool, slides, hot tubs etc.
Our room (deluxe in building 7) had plenty of tidy comfortable space for four with ocean view from lanai. With a bit of luck you can park right outside.
There are shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Still I'd recommend renting a car to get the most out of Kauai.
Kiahuna Beach is a short walk away. A comfy stretch of sand with great waves, recommended by rentals for beginner surfer wanna-bes. Next one, Poipu Beach, is a superb spot for sunset admirers. (It turns out sun doesn't shine every day even in Hawaii but when it does, it sets in an impressive manner.)
Had one setback on day one. Got room keys at 4 pm and asked the receptionist if we should take our stuff from luggage room but she said they'd be delivered. The luggage didn't show up and we had to rush to catch the sunset and dinner. Returned to hotel, still no sign of luggage after some five hours. Contacted the reception, another lady this time, and she had everything fixed within minutes, including preparing the sofa bed for our kids.
It is fair to point out this one glitch gets too much emphasis here as overall the hotel's great. Everything else worked smoothly, the staff was friendly, and - deservedly ending on a high note here - we'd be happy to return.
