This hotel was horrible. Their cable was out for only the second floor. When I went to ask why they had very bad attitude about it. When I was unhappy about this they said they would call the cops. I will never stay here again.
The water park was fun (kids loved it) expect the big slides were out of order. The room and beds were nice and clean. The tv and WiFi were both out which was disappointing for the evening when we needed those for the kids to relax. The front desk staff weren’t very attentive. You only get one key and when I locked it in the room they had to come unlock the door (had to go back to the front desk for that). They will not give you two keys. No food available after 10pm. You have to go 10 minutes away to Casey’s. Except those few unknowns it was a nice stay.
WOW. This place is seriously terrible. Not one (literally.) employee wore a mask. Not a single one. About 1% of the people staying wore one. As, clearly, the mask mandate for the entire state doesn’t apply here. The whole “non-smoking” rule really must not apply because the hallways smelled like cigarettes. The employees are beyond unprofessional. The “breakfast” was a paper bag with a granola bar, school sized carton of milk, pre-packaged fruit cups, and a very small can of juice. And they didn’t tell you they had them. You had to find out on your own and go ask. Also, the internet was literally worthless. Nothing worked on it. Had to use my cellular to do anything at all. The hot tub got up to 90 degrees at its hottest. We asked because we froze sitting in it. Oh. And the jets don’t work. So you’re sitting in a barely lukewarm bathtub with 20 other people. Their key system went down, so we had to be escorted back to our rooms to be let in. They had one person doing this, so catching him at the right time, *just to get back into your own room* was a chore. The arcade was a joke. The claw machines are so loose that even the play until you win ones have to be done over and over to actually win even a tootsie roll. The games don’t give prizes, so you’re just spending money on very mediocre games. But there’s nothing else to do, so it’s what you have to do. The *only* restaurant around is the one in the entrance that is freezing. The whole place was freezing, actually. Just no.
Room didn’t even a working TV. What kind of room doesn’t have a tv that works when staying. Ask to switch rooms and was denied when, clearly half the place was empty. To bad.
The hot tub and sauna were both out of order, the ATM was out of order. The pool was so murky it looked green you couldn’t see your feet. The bar staff didn’t know how to make any type of drinks and were very unqualified. 9:00 and the coffee was out. Lifeguard walked around eating and drinking. The tub was filthy. Only good part of this stay is that the bed was comfortable. They run out of pool towels and seems they are too lazy to get more. Very slow staff there. I ended up cancelling my 2nd night because it was just not for ale and booked in Iowa city. I got more from the hotel in Iowa city at a nice hotel close to the mall and lots of. The pool and hot ton were both clean and in working order for the same price!
The rooms could use updating, but was clean. Pillows were uncomfortable for both my husband and I. No elevators. Water Park was fun, however pretty crowded because non motel guests were allowed to use water patk atea.
Everyone was very and accommodating.
I felt like i was going to b 'mugged' by off duty employees that loitered right by the hotel front desk. One employee thretened another employee with voilence. Back entrances to hotel do not lock. Staff werent knowledgeable about procedures. Check-in took an hour and phone calls to off duty personnel were required.
We had a great time. Staff was so down to earth and so welcoming and accommodating. We had a great time
They are currently undergoing some updates and the is construction dust, no continental breakfast because of COVID, which was fine when I was told I'd be able to order breakfast from the kitchen for a reasonable price but when I went down that morning I was told Lol they were offering was very basic and frankly gross donuts. No juice or milk for the kids. Needless to stay I had 4 very hungry kids when we left. We stayed here for the water park which the kiddos enjoyed but both days there were 0 towels and it was a chilly walk back to our room. So overall customer service could be improved. That staff was polite when telling us all the things they didn't have but I feel at that point there really should have been a discount or refund given on the price of the rooms.
