Holiday Inn Express Sandy-South Salt Lake City

Everything was great except the breakfast. Nothing but high sugar content items and non ripe fruit. Every other Holiday Inn express that I’ve stayed in offered hot grab & go breakfasts. All this one offered was cereal bars and cheap pastries. Very disappointing as I had to go out and purchase breakfast.

Front desk reps both evening and overnight had very poor customer service.

Despite signs everywhere regarding mask requirements, few people wore them, including some housekeepers, and sometimes office staff. The lack of enforcement was terrible. We had no housekeeping service for 6 days. We requested multiple times, were told multiple times it would happen, and it never did. I took sheets and towels to the front desk for them. We had to ask housekeepers for more which we received intermittently. I made the beds (changed sheets, changed comforter cover, etc). I should have been paid by them instead of the other way around. The manager was very nice, and we would receive apologies and assurances that were never fulfilled.

When I first arrived at the hotel, the room they assigned had not need cleaned from the previous tenants. I spoke with the front desk, Lisa, and she was very helpful. However, the newly assigned room smelled of smoke. (I hope you charged the previous tenants the extra cleaning fee). But overall, the room was what we needed and it was comfortable.

There were a couple arguing and fighting most of the night. I call the front desk to inform them of the problem and they were not helpful at all also very rude. Even after calling them the arguing kept going on. The room was in good condition all except for the television, It was a very bad picture. Also after only a few minutes in the shower the water became very cold.

The hotel is in a great location for easy access on and off the freeway when traveling. There are some good restaurants that make a to go dinner fast when you’re tired. The hotel itself looks pretty dated but the beds were super comfy and made up for it!

The clerk who "checked" us in actually didn't check us in at all and it was a good thing the keys didn't work because I had to go to the front desk and get them reactivated which allowed her to realize the mistake...no harm done though.

It was what I expected for what I paid. It’s not bad just the stench in the whole room that was so bad. But you get what you pay for so it wasn’t too bad!!

Staff was great and very helpful. Rooms are nice and very clean.

I had asked for a response from management regarding my unfortunate stay in October before writing this review however, I never received one. Entering the lobby was not what one should expect when a hotel lobby to be greeted by a large pit bull on a leash and other dogs wandering around. It looked more like the vet's office than a hotel lobby. There was a corporate event in the dining area with volume turned up, no masks and people crammed in the small space. The desk attendant presented me with a key sleeve with a previously scratched out room number and directed me to another room. The room I was directed to was occupied as I discovered after opening the door and being stopped by the security lever. The desk attendant apologized and sent me to another room after she checked to make sure no one was in it. When I entered the room, the floor looked like it had not been vacuumed and there were dried beverage rings on the end tables in the sitting area and at the bedside. The bed did not appear to have been changed out. When I pulled back the covers there was hair and other debri on the sheets. The shift had changed and another young lady at the desk found another room but it didn't have the king bed I had reserved but, it was late and I had already spent more than one hour trying to get settled in for the night. I have never had such an unfortunate experience in a Holiday Inn Express any place in the country. I was disappointed with this stay.
