Bad service, exception see 4. 1. Reception: Trainee screwed up constantly and other staff did not seem to care. On arrival I waited for the room in the lobby for 2 hrs. Despite having promised to tell me, they made me ask for it 4 times. When trying to get info, people jumping the line were served first. On checking out, we asked them send bellboy for two heavy bags. After a 15 min wait, asked again, "oh are you leaving NOW?". Eventually 45 min of waiting, nobody bothered telling us (even if they themselves said so PLUS told us specifically they will come to the lobby INSIDE) that the bags were already in the cloakroom OUTSIDE. Had to ask 3 times.
2. Bathroom: water from tap splashing all over the place (other than the hands), on the wooden desk that, of course, looked gross as a result. Fortunately beds were good.
3. Restaurants: In a la carte Lobster 60€, bad wine 30€, we were made stand 20 min and people behind us were served, tables organized etc before us, and we had a reservation! Birds literally eating from breakfast buffet, staff ignored.
4. The helpfulness of the technical staff made a difference: they rescued my painting that had fallen down the shoreline embankment while I was sketching there on a windy day. On checkout I gave the receptionist some cards to be forwarded to them as a sign of my gratitude. Instead he called one of them there (which I did not ask since I did not want to disturb him). I could shake his hand once again, but was he ever given the cards?
