Our expensive room was supposed to be a 'deluxe oceanfront view' , but it was partially blocked by an adjoining building. It was a plain room, with no iron, liquor except beer advertised bathrobes and a fuzzy TV.Otherwise the 6 restaurants served excellent food and overall service was good.

To qualify the rating: the hotel is all-inclusive for which there is no provision in Expedia's hotel rating system. We found the variety of food to be greatly inadequate; the quality was average, but lack of variety made eatting into a very boring exerience. There was a problem of getting drinking water. The room minibar was refilled only once a day […] with 3x0.6l bottles (although we were assured that minibars are refilled 5-6 times a day, it never happened in our 9 days stay). To get more bottled water a call to room service and waiting were needed. There was no other way to get drinking water in pool area without waiting in line to bars and only to get a small glass of it, which means it took as much time to get plain drinking water, as it was to get a cocktail, which is plain rediculous, especially considering that hotel does not recommend drinking tap water. The hotel staff worked hard to please, however there was obvious lack of training on all levels, which made for abnoxious service too often. We would recommend this hotel for a short stay, like long weekend, or for hotel only stay if it is possible to book. Lisätietoja

This hotel is in a beautiful location - wonderful sunsets over the islands offshore. The beds were very hard, but then thats to be expected in Mexico. The restaurants were all of a very high standard and we appreciated the friendly staff who were always happy to help. Our only complaint was that after a long day of travel, we were unable to get a table […] at any of the restaurants till after 9pm (they don't take bookings) and there was no buffet restaurant which would at least have provided us with something to eat. We also felt that with some of the more popular restaurants we had to rush to change and get in line or risk not getting a table until much later in the evening. Allowing bookings would have avoided that we felt. However, we very much enjoyed our stay and would return again. Must recommend the onsite spa. The ONLY issue would be that we were right above where a lot of the evening activities happened and it was sometimes nosier later than we would have liked. I feel we could probably have asked to have been moved to another room and if at all possible, our request would have been accommodated. LOTS of children and sometimes they were very noisy in the hallways well after 10:00 p.m.! The hotel was nice, the food was great was not happy with my room, I booked a kingsize bed with a partial ocean view and what I got was two double beds with a view of the hotel next door, mattresses were hard, water stayed in the bottom of the shower and did not drain. Employees and management were very friendly and accomodating. We were guests at the hotel 2 years ago and there was a noticeable improvement with the update of hotel rooms and attentiveness by employees. HOWEVER, we were very disappointed in the "sell" presentation for half hour right after we registered in hotel for Sunscape's Travel Club. We were […] not pleased to have to listen to a "salesman" for half hour before we even got to our room. Quite frankly I didn't realize it was a travel club sale until I read the info.....due to our age in 70's we weren't even eligible!!!! In addition, the hotel seemed to continually bring in groups of individuals and families for the prime reason of selling their travel club. For us as a couple wanting to have a quiet relaxing week's vacation, there were way too any people with young children coming and going for 1-3 days stay. While there are a lot of good things going on at hotel, I would not recommend it to our friends due to all the commotion going on in entry foyer as well as around the pool 90% of the time due to all the short term visitors. There were far too many young children for us at this state of our life and what we want in a vacation hotel. Staff was very attentive. Enjoyed the daily pool and beach activities. Wait staff at pool made sure that you always had a drink and did their best to please.

We were too early to check in, but had access to the restaurants/pool/etc until our room was ready...which was nice. At check in time, they gave us keys to a room with ONE bed. We have 4 people. Front desk said it'll be 3 more hours until a room was ready! We had already waited 4 hours. We had traveled, we were tired, crabby & hot. We had clearly booked […] a room with TWO double beds, 4 people!!! I was not happy! Then when our room was ready, someone else's stuff was in it! I wasn't sure who to be mad at...the hotel or expedia. I tried to call Expedia, but the hotel was going to charge me $30 to make the collect call. My cell phone didn't have an international plan. At hotel: food was ok. The daily entertainment staff is excellent! Not much to do for a tween-ager though. Our son, 11, was too old for the kids club, but not old enough for the teenage room, so he had to spend time with his parents! There is nightly live entertainment which is LOUD if your room is on that side of the hotel! My husband never had a hot shower the entire week. Mine were hit or miss. There's annoying "Vacation Club" people in the lobby all the time bothering you to come to presentations for their time shares. Even thoguh they say they are not selling them! It was every time we walked through the lobby, which you have to do to go to the pool, restaurants, or the beach. Very annoying!!! The hotel is located in the center of the about 3 km long beach. The beach is very wide and clean along the whole stretch, not like in some other places only in front of the hotel – perfect for walking. Service in restaurants generally was good although, sometimes to much American (USA) style service, which means: asking men first to order, serving from the wrong side, bringing the next plate without removing already used ones, bringing the orders not knowing who ordered what. The hotel, food, the waiters and all the support staff were great . The reception was not satisfactory . I would not recommend upgrading the room, as it is likely they will not honor it . We paid additional for an upgrade, and they asked for proof . I always trust they will have it in their records what I booked, that might be my mistake . I have been […] using Expedia for the last 10 years an this is the first time I don' t get what I paid for. So, I don' t know if Expedia did not communicate effectively what I had booked, or they just ignored it. My wife and I had a great time, for we were not going to allow that to ruin our trip, but that annoyed me for a while. Everything there is great, just make sure you bring a copy of what you booked, and tell reception you don' t want a free breakfast. Yes, they will hassle you if you are not clear and emphatic . My husband and I stayed at the Sunscape Dorado September 8 - 15 of 2012 and had a wonderful time there. The pros are: Excellent location on a clean, swimable beach. The staff are friendly, responsive and most speak English well. The grounds are immaculate and the atmosphere is lively and fun yet there are areas you can enjoy peace and quiet as well. […] They have excellent programs and amenities for kids and families. The cons are: While they have several beautiful restaurants with excellent meal presentation, the food tastes average, with the exception of the breakfast buffet. Like some of the other reviewers, we got stuck on a couple of mystery elevator rides too. Right after checking in we were immediately introduced to the timeshare salesman and had to deal with that. The staff was amazing! All were very pleasant and always asking how r day was going. Our stay was very pleasant and would recommend it to anyone. Food was amazing. The drinks were also top notch. If you are planning an event you must speak to Renee he is amazing with detail. He will organize your event to the last detail. The "Sunscape entertainment […] team" is SENTATIONAL. Enjoyed our stay at the Sunscape, wonderful staff, most staff could speak English as we could not speak Spanish. Food was good, but pools could use a bit more cleaning. Overall nice stay, but if you get stuck in the elevator do not panic...someone will come and get you out. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms were nice, nice shower. We had a partial ocean view and that was pretty much it, a partial. Could see the ocean and hear it which was great. The ungreat part was that silly night club across the street. It was soooo loud at night! Friday night I had to put my ear plugs in and I could still hear the thumping. But thankfully […] it stopped somewhere around midnight. Saturday night it just got started at midnight! I woke up at 5:50am and it was still going! I was so tired I eventually just fell asleep. Drinks were great. Service of all the wait staff was great too. Breakfast buffet is really good. We did that each day. Lunch was usually just something quick from the snack place. Dinner, not so good at all! We tried the seafood restaurant and the food was not pleasing. So after really not eating any of it we walked to the buffet, that didn't look good at all. So we walked across the street and found a great place to have lobster and shrimp. There are a lot of great restaurants over there so just walk around and try some out. We ate off site every night for dinner. It was well worth it! Hopefully the Sunscape can get their specialty restaurants to prepare and serve more appetizing food. If they could it really would make it a one stop shop. The location is great! Right on the beach. But beware of the people who save the shaded seats under the umbrellas. Breakfast, lunch and drinks were great! Staff was very friendly. Dinner was ok...If it was a buffett dinner it wasn't very good, but if it was a menu dinner it was pretty good. The beds were very hard. Over all, it was a great place to stay.

Food service was terrible and the quality of the food was horrible. It would take anywhere from 1 1/5 hours to 3 hours for dinner. Hotel staff is top notch. Great atmosphere for adults and families alike. This was the first all inclusive hotel vacation for my wife and I and we were pleasantly surprised by the food and service.

Overall, the hotel is very nice with a few qualificacions. The breakfast buffet is excellent. From there the food situation goes downhill. Being expected to "dress" for lunch and dinner almost every day is not what we want in a vacation. The Barefoot grill is great in the afternoons, but that is supposed to be for a snack, not a meal replacement. We […] were turned away from the Bluewater in the afternoon because of a tank top. At the same time another guest was allowed in with an open "shirt with sleeves" over a speedo swimsuit. Having a couple of nice places to dressup in the evening is a nice choice but there needs to be a buffet everyday for those who want a choice. The fancy dinners aren't always what you think you ordered and don't all set well on the stomach. The coffee maker in the rooms and minibar are great pluses. A note and tip for the maid will get you more of whatever you prefer in the fridge. The turndown service is a nice touch, but for us a frustration when they keep knocking on the door to turn down a bed that we are already napping in. There was supposed to be a business center but all we found was one computer that stayed on Facebook unless you knew how to make it work. The Spa is a nice touch but very pricey. Muy buena atención del personal, rapidez en checkin y check out. Buena calidad de los alimentos, tienen variedad para cualquier antojo. El único detalle es la altura de las almohadas en las habitaciones, todo lo demás esta perfecto

Lo que no me gusto fue la comida, ya que no incluye nada de mariscos y pescado. Además que mi esposo y una sobrina se enfermaron del estómago, el médico dijo que era una intoxicación leve por los alimentos.

Pudiera no ser el hotel mas lujoso que haya visitado, pero si fue el hotel con mejor servicio, todo el personal tiene vocacion y te atienden de la mejor manera.

Excelente Hotel, instalaciones, alimentos, bebidas, actividades y eventos. Check inn y Check out muy rápido. El equipo de animación es super amable. Una ubicación extraordinaria cerca de antros, tiendas, etc... Únicamente los meseros del área de playa podrían esforzarse en brindar un mejor servicio.

La familia se la paso muy bien, aunque la información puede mejorar para hacer excelente la estancia, por ejemplo, se dio una hoja que se dejo en la habitación ahí traía información de eventos, pero falto la invitación personal a los eventos, no supe de que se trato la atención VIP, ni me entere si cobraban un extra o no en el spa , tampoco me invitaron, […] pero también cuando son muy insistentes caen mal, me gusto que no hubiera en el hotel gente vendiendo membresias ( esos si son una lata ), en los restaurantes me pidieron me retirara dos veces una por no traer playera y otra por no traer mangas las Playera ( les. Di la razón. Es mejor tener esas regla), en otro no entre porque llevaba niños y no podía entrar con ellos y no estaba enterAdo, pero me gusto el hotel Lisätietoja

La estancia increíble pero la comida muy mala, si es un all inclusive pero podrían mejorar la calidad en los alimentos y también hay muy poca variedad en los mismos, todo el día es lo mismo, fuera de eso el hotel esta muy bonito, la atención del personal es excelente, lo tratan mejor qie en otras cadenas y mas caras

El hotel muy bien, la calidad en el servicio muy buena, comida excelente. Los elevadores fallan con frecuencia y en la alberca existe como un sistema informal de apartado de las sillas que resulta molesto, nunca hay una silla disponible para la alberca.

Excelente servicio de todo su personal¡¡ Habitaciones amplias y limpias, con vista espectacular a la playa. La comida en restaurantes a la carta es un poco lenta cuando hay muchos comensales, sin embargo el buffette del restaurant Windows opera todo el dia con muy buenos alimentos. Hotel recientemente remodelado. SPA increible (aunque los precios […] son elevados). Pequeños detalles a corregir, por ejemplo los elevadores (lentos y vidrios sucios, aunque seguramente se debió a que habia muchos huespedes)...
