Centrotel - Ateena

I've stayed in Athens a lot and hotels are very variable in their quality. Even some of the 4/5 star hotels are sometimes bad. However, this is the first time I've stayed here and would thoroughly recommend it. It's 300 metres from Victoria Metro. Service was excellent and the rooms were clean, large and much better than expected. However the area surrounding the hotel is not ideal...can get quite intimidating with the amount of dodgy looking men hanging around. We took the metro from the airport to Centrotel 7 euros pp. We had to transfer metros in Syntagma and we got off on the Larissa exit. The hotel is approx. 5 blocks away in a sketchy area. The hotel itself is a “diamond in the rough”. It is super clean, the reception desk was super helpful and friendly. Actually everyone in Athens was super friendly. […] The check in process was quick. We were handed a real key which also acted as the key to turn on our a/c and electricity. From our balcony we had a view of the street. The bed was firm and was pretty low to the ground. The jet tub was really cool because it lit up. The only complaint is that the shower head handle kept falling off the wall hook thing and our bathroom floor was a tad flooded after each shower even though there was a shower curtain. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and toothbrushes and toothpaste. Great service and nice hotel. Oh and you must must must eat dinner a few blocks away at Parapera. Fantastic salmon dish! This contemporary hotel is conveniently located a few minutes from Victoria metro station. It is clean, comfortable and the reception staff is more than helpful. The breakfast is more than adequate with hard-boiled eggs, toasts, orange juice and, of course, yoghurt. There are two computers and a printer for guest use, as well as complimentary WiFi. […] The surrounding neighbourhood is not the prettiest, but we did not have any problems, and if you do not mind seeing how regular Athenians live, then there are no worries. We were told by the airport information desk to get off at Larissa station and proceed to hotel. Not the best idea! Victoria station is much closer and you do not have to get lost looking for the hotel. There are many immigrants that live in the area, so it is not very clean, many kids begging, and and just a general "unsafe" feeling. Made our way with some trepidation from the metro station to the hotel, after having a look around the neighbourhood. After walking around Athens a little more, we came to realize that this was generally the state of most of the residential areas here so our initial fears about the seemingly rough nature of the place was unfounded. Anyway, I didn't […] have much expectations and was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the "C hotel" sign. It is a very modern building compared to its surrounding neighbours and has an interior to match. The reception staff are very friendly and will entertain any questions you may have. They also give good recommendations on places to eat or how the transportation system works (or doesn't). Rooms are functional, clean and the balcony was a plus. Rates are very inexpensive and the location is within walking distance from the metro, which is perhaps 4 stops from the city center. So overall, a gem of a place to stay if what you are looking for is a 1) clean room with good bathroom, 2) inexpensive place to stay in Athens but near the city center 3) want to walk around a real Athenian neighbourhood. This hotel is easy walking distance from 2 metro stations (Victoria station is open as of 6/7) which is important because it is not in the main tourist area. It is a couple of metro stops away. The area appears more rundown if you approach from the Larissa station but it is quite lively at night at the Victoria station area and there are a few restaurants […] there. We felt safe walking at night. It is more like a mixed urban area. I would not call it seedy. We had stayed near the plaka a couple of weeks earlier and appreciated getting to know a different part of Athens. The hotel is beautifully appointed. Appears to have been renovated within the last couple of years. Rooms had the appearance of a 3 star hotel and are very comfortable and modern. Bathroom has full bathtub. Bathrobes and safe are available, Our room had a balcony overlooking the street. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Free Wifi. We left the window open all night and it was not noisy at all. Bottom line, if you want to save a few dollars, stay in a really nice hotel and don't mind taking the metro to sightsee this is your hotel. Lisätietoja

The neighborhood of the hotel is in a run-down state. There are limited eateries within walking distance, which includes a bakery just across the street and a Soulvaki (affordable and delicious pitas) on the left side of the hotel. The nearest metro station is Larissa (Victoria station is down) and it takes ~7 minutes to walk to there. Despite the hotel is a little bit far from the main sights of Athens, the high quality of service solve this problem in an important way. I had problems with my flight due the national strike, but the people of the hotel tried to do their best in order to solve the issues. I would recommend it totally to everybody. It was a great experience.

Bodde på Centrotel 3 nätter i mitten av september med min man. Otroligt fint hotell och personalen är jättetrevlig. Rekommenderar verkligen detta hotell. Området är lite ruffigt men samtidigt spännande.Och det är inga problem att gå omkring. Hotellet ligger mitt emellan två metrostationer. Nära till allt.

Super hôtel largement au-dessus de sa catégorie. Hôtel qui semble neuf et qui est parfaitement entretenu. Chambre spacieuse, wi-fi gratuit. Le breakfast est complet. Personnel très agréable. Les stations métro sont proches - préférer Larissa station - et même chargés de bagages nous pouvons nous y rendre facilement. Le quartier semble inquiétant mais […] nous n'avons eu aucun problème.
