Lovely hotel, very central. Got upgraded to executive room with four poster bed-looked out onto city which was nice but some people may find noisy. room in need of some moderinsation too and lots of bulbs out. heating not on when we arrived so reception arranged for a heater to be brought and it to be fixed. Shower good but no bath. Breakfast Ok but […] very busy (think we just hit a busy time) but good selection. Drinks in bar expensive. My wife and I stayed here one Saturday night just after Xmas and had a pleasant time. I was a little worried at first as there was a wedding reception going on but we never heard any noise (though we were up on the 2nd floor) and the party stopped at midnight (a hotel rule, and a good one). Not a cheap place to stay, but the hotel is in a great location […] right next to the city walls and close to the Minister and Shambles etc, though if you're coming from the train station I'd recommed getting a taxi. My wife and I walked and got lost in the maze of streets. The room was nice and the bed was a good size. Bathroom a little small but the bath was nice and deep. I liked the coffee in the room, and the Sunday morning buffet was impressive with a good selection of fried stuff including nice bacon and eggs. The staff we met were generally very friendly so all in all I'd recommend it. The only down side was the desperately slow elevators which made me give up and just take the stairs, but it's a great location, though a little dark so I wouldn't walk too far away from the city at night if I was alone. I should also say York is a great place to visit for a few days, it's very compact and easy to get around, and has some brilliant shops and old pubs, plus some great places to eat. Lisätietoja

Good location for the centre of York. The staff were very efficient and helpful. We had a business room which was large and well furnished with a superking bed. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. The main problem with the hotel is that it is situated on a busy road with traffic lights outside the hotel. We had a room in the side of the hotel on the […] second floor; you could still hear some noise from the road, but not enough to be a problem. If the room had been nearer to the road it probably would have been noisy early morning and late at night. Not sure if those rooms have better double glazing. The hotel bar needed refurbishing, but the lounge area was fine. The hotel has a function room and there was a wedding reception which finished at 12.p.m. on the night that we stayed in the hotel. As mentioned, our room was on the second floor and we did not here any noise from the party. However, this might have been different if we had been closer to the function room. Finally the car park is not particularly big. I managed to get one of the last remaining places, but I am not sure what the hotel arrangements are for guests who don't get a parking space. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom, carpets and furniture was a little dated. The locaton is excellent for the centre of York and breakfast was superb great choice. The staff were very helpful especially with parking as we had a large vehicle but they soon made room for us.

We,ve stayed at this hotel many times now. The hotel is in a great place with free parking and a great breakfast. however some of the staff have a don't care less attitude. I,m not a moaner normally, but I won't have a drink in the bar anymore as the last three times I have stayed I could have died of thirst before getting served. Last time I even got […] tutted at when I asked if I could have milk instead of cream for my coffee. The Monkbar was perfectly located for our visit to York and the staff were very polite and extremely helpful. They obliged us with an early check-in because we were going to a wedding and even upgraded our room.

Very comfortable hotel, good quality surrounds, very friendly staff and great breakfast. Car park was included. Very useful when looking at other hotels within walking distance of all the attractions.

Fantastic location. Friendly staff. No A/C which meant that we had to have the windows open to try to keep the heat down. As a result we were exposed to the very noisy road that runs past the hotel. Traffic thankfully stopped markedly after midnight. We stayed three nights. Staff on reception were friendly. polite and efficient. Our room was excellent, with a huge bed and all the facilities you could wish for, including free wi-fi. just stayed 2 nights here. the room was clean with everything you'd expect but was absolutely tiny - would have expected a little more space (even just a normal sized room) for the price. breakfast good although had to wait for a table on the first morning. hotel just a couple of minutes walk to the minster so fantastically placed for sight seeing.

WE HAD AN EXCELLENT STAY,STAFF ALL VERY HELPFUL AND FREINDLY,ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THAT IN OUR ROOM NO 34 THE SHOWER CUBICLE HAD MILDEW AND TILES NEED REGROUTING

The location of this hotel is the only thing going for it. They lost our luggage, damaged our suitcase. prior to booking it would have been nice to know that there was a wedding on both nights. Extremely noisy surroundings, road that passes hotel seems to be the main line for the emergency services. Overall not a peaceful relaxing stay whatsoever. Rooms overlooking courtyard are fine, but outside rooms very noisy. No air conditioning, so windows have to be opened to cool room. Traffic is constant. Not helped by coach drivers running engines while awaiting guests.

Just outside the wall and very close to the Minster. Dinner was good. Staff very keen to please.
