RelaxInnz Ashby's Boutique Guest House - Southsea

It is a very attractive place... clean, nice bar and restaurant. The service was very good. It was a little hard to find, so make sure you have good instructions for getting there.

We spent last weekend at Ashby's and had a wonderful time. I would definately recommend this guest house - we had the room with the four poster bed and we slept so well. It is so close to the sea front and restaurants, and bars but so quiet so you are not disturbed at night. The breakfast on offer have to be the best we have ever had with a great choice. […] We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant but if the standard is as good as the breakfast you will not go wrong. I am recovering from an illness and we were really looked after by our hosts and plan to go back again really soon. Would definately recommend this hotel. Thanks for making our stay really enjoyable. Staying at this hotel for business. Got upgraded to their four poster room that was lovely but had a faulty shower so was moved to a very very small room. Staff were lovely but the restaurant wasn't open so couldn't get any food. Can be very hard to find parking here as its on street and you need to get a voucher from the hotel.

We stayed for one night recently and had a very good experience overall. Friendly and helpful staff, a very clean and stylish room, located in a quiet street so no noise issues. Only problem for me was one of the beds in room 5 where the mattress had sunk in the centre so not a good nights sleep for me. A lovely stay with a warm and friendly setting...I light on the dressing table would have been ideal.

A little difficult to find. The address takes you to the back entrance which is not the most impressive way into the hotel. The proprietor seemed rather put out when asked to view my room before accepting it which didn't make the most warm welcome. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely bathroom. Ideal location for a family visit in Southsea except that the night we chose to visit the most convenient exit/entrance, through the bar, was locked. Not surprising because we arrived to discover the bar and restuarant were closed for night too. We ate out some miles away but it would have been a whole lot better and easier to eat in and entertain family […] there. That said we appreciated that it was under new management and breakfast was fine. We were probably the only guests. The standard of the room was adequate for our needs. Had a woman been present she might have been a bit more critical. For instance, when showing a family member we visited around she found the hairdryer wasn't working. Replacing burnt lampshades and giving the room a good dust would also help. It was good to have parking while there adjancent to the hotel but we weren't sure whether is would be as easy at busier times to find resident parking slots. We reckon the manager has good ideas for the development of the business and hope that in the next few months when visiting again some of them will be already in place. A fraction more care and attention to details outlined will make the next stay that much more enjoyable. It is near enough to the sea for a quiet stroll down to the front and on the edge of the shopping area. Had the resturant been open and access available this hotel would I'm sure have scored higher.
