Olin nyt kolmatta kertaa samassa hotellissa. Paria seikkaa lukuun ottamatta olin erittäin tyytyväinen. Suurin harmi oli se, että bide-suihkua ei ollut, ja se suihkujärjestelmä, joka oli, toimi alkeellisesti. Säätö ei toiminut, vaan vettä tippui jokaisesta kolmesta kohdasta, vaikka miten olisi säätänyt. Veden tulo alkoi aina kylmällä vedellä, ja sitä siis tuli joka tuutista. No, kyllä tilanteen kanssa oppi pärjäämään. Toinen harmi oli se, että vaimoni yöpyku katosi liinavaatteiden mukana, ja takaisin sitä ei saatu.

Hotellissa The James New York on kuntokeskus tai -sali ja ulkouima-allas (kauden mukaan). Langaton Internet-yhteys on ilmainen yleisillä alueilla. Tämän 4,5-tähden hotellin liiketoiminnan palveluihin sisältyvät liiketoimintakeskus auki aina, kokoushuone ja limusiinipalvelu. Vieraille tarjotaan ilmainen vastaanotto (kevyt ateria) joka päivä. The James New Yorkn 114 ilmaistoidussa huoneessa on iPod-telakat ja tallelokerot (kannettava tietokone sopii). 37-tuumainen LCD-televisio, joissa on parhaat satelliittikanavat ja maksulliset elokuvat, ovat saatavissa. Huoneissa on työpöydät, tallelokerot ja kaiutinpuhelin sekä ilmainen vastaajapalvelu. Ilmainen langaton nopea Internet-yhteys on käytettävissä. Vuoteissa on petauspatja-patjat, nimetyt vuoteet ja kolme lakanaa. Tyynyvalikoima on saatavissa.Huoneissa on jääkaappi, minibaari ja kahvin-/teenkeitin. Kylpyhuoneissa on suihkut, jossa on käsisuihku ja sadesuihkut. Kylpyhuoneissa on myös kylpytakit, designer-hygieniatuotteet ja meikkaus-/parranajopeilit. The James New York's awe-inspiring rooftop is perhaps our most enviable feature. Framed by the hotel's architectural "halo," the private rooftop pool featuring teak wood decking and outdoor showers, includes both indoor and outdoor seating for warm weather fun and relaxation.
Our rooftop bar, Jimmy, is a contemporary interpretation of a classic pub with a 1970’s New York twist. Elements like herringbone floors, a leather trimmed solid wood bar top, brick glazed tile walls, rich blue upholstery and working fireplaces come together to create a sense of warmth. A year-round destination, Jimmy opens into the rooftop pool deck during the warmer months. But whether indoors or out, Jimmy guests are treated to one of the most spectacular views in New York City: a river-to-river vista looking over Midtown, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond.
Guests can order from our classically inspired cocktail menu with ingredients including syrups, bitters and juices prepared in-house from herbs in our Chef’s Garden.

"The James, NY"
Henkilökunta, sijainti, huoneiden koko, kaikki täyden kympinarvoisia. Huoneet ovat tilavia samoin kylpyhuone. Sänky oli iso ja erittäin mukava. Täydellinen äänieristys - asuimme aivan hissin kohdalla, mutta se ei kuulunut lainkaan huoneeseen. Metroasema kohdalla ja Manhattanin eteläkärki on kävelymatkan päässä. Hotellin kellarissa viiden tähden kohtuuhintainen […] ravintola. Ainoa asia josta voi hiaman valittaa on huonepalvelun aamiainen. Vaikka onkin ylellistä syödä aamiainen hotellihuoneessa aamulla, niin munat ja pekoni/makkara, kahvin/teen ja paahtoleivän ja hillon kanssa rupeaa kolmantena päivänä tökkimään.Rupeaa kaipaamaan vihanneksia, hedelmiä ja puuroa. "a NICE hotel!!"
The James is a very very nice hotel! We stayed 4 nights in a larger Studio and it was perfect for a couple! Nice view of the Skyline & Tibecca! Great service & friendly approach from all members of the staff! + A nice complimentary wine & cheese buffet in the lobby. Location. - The pool was closed, even tho weather was warm & sunny! "Never again!"
Terrible. Downgraded my room from a king suite to a queen standard without telling me. Like I wouldnt notice... When confronted they said they had no others. Jimmy is a dreadful bar with affected staff that seem to forget they work in a bar. Save yourself the trouble and stay at the Standard!
"totally NOT accomodating hotel!"
1st they were late checking us in eventhough we arrived at the hotel at 4:30/5pm - so they made us wait to get our room we asked for any kind of replacement for breakfast since we were not eager to have fries and bacon and greasy eggs and bread in the morning... saying that we would be content even with a yogurt and box of cereal... but NO the manager […] would not offer any replacement... eventhough it would have been cheaper for him too!! they also delivered our breakfast late outside our door a garbage food bag from mc donald's (from our neighboor's room accross the hall) stayed there rotting from 8pm in the evening until 3pm the next day... very disappointing when you spend so much for a night!! "If service is what you want - this place has it."
The people here make the stay from good to extraordinary. Really. I read the reviews and didn't understand until I went. They leave the Trump SoHo and the Essex House (the other hotels I visit) in the DUST. Really. Yu have to experience it to believe it - you will not regret it.

"The James Hotel - baby friendly on edge of Soho"
Spent a few nights at the James in March 2012. Great location, just on the edge of Soho and an easy walk to China Town, Little Italy, the Village etc. Hotel staff generally very nice - great with the baby. Door men and driver Rick are fantastic - incredibly helpful. A few minor issues with "Guest Services" - some messages seem to be taken, but not […] actioned. In fairness they were incredibly helpful in helping us plan our visit in advance, organising restaurant bookings at family-friendly times, organising babysitters when required etc. Room not quite as clean as it might have been, but a good size for New York, well appointed and with good views. Any issues we had were pretty minor to be honest, and more than made up for by the general friendliness of the staff and great location. Definitely works for people with young families - so much nicer to walk out into Soho area than into the madness of Midtown! Lisätietoja

Extremely friendly, helpful, and guest centric staff. I believe this is the best hotel I've stayed in NYC, and have been to my fair share of hotels here. Technology up to date, the rooms have the best wireless Wi-fi, the best mini bar you can find in a hotel in NYC, and loved that the doors wirelessly let me in. Unlike some hotels that provide tiny […] soaps and shampoos, they provide a full bottle with a pump. The shower worked great, and the room decoration was beautiful. Customer service at this elegant hotel was amazing. From the time I entered the door to check in. The staff was outstanding. The only complaint was the early morning front desk staff was not as helpful but the rest of the staff made the James my new hotel of preference.

Great hotel. VERY friendly and helpful staff. I really liked the location on the southwest edge of Soho. Easy walk to the Village and other great neighborhoods. I booked the corner king and had awesome unobstructed views to east and south from the 14th floor. Highly recommended!
"Relaxation and Restaurant'ing at the James"
Cool hotel with great staff. The room was really cozy and the views of NYC were hard to beat. Amazing location in Soho, too, near a lot of great restaurants (we ate at the Dutch and it was fantastic). David Burke kitchen was nice for brunch in the morning too.

"The James Hotel- Beautifully Done!"
Quite, Contemporary yet VERY Comfortable and Well Appointed. Walking distance to everything in Tribecca to one direction and Soho and the LES in the other. A quck cab ride up 6th Ave to additional world class shopping on 5th or Madison Ave. My new address when traveling to New York City.

Staff was great, hotel is nice size, clean, good restaurant and bar. Within walking distance to everything in SOHO and an easy jog over to the W Side Highway multi-purpose jogging, biking, walking path. Will return.

The hotel room is very nice, and the staff is super friendly... even though it is definitely at the higher end of the price range, it was worth it. The hotel has complimentary snacks in the lobby, and chocolate at night, and that is a very sweet perk of staying at the James hotel . I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again

Nice hotel. Modern rooms are very clean and well set out. the staff are helpful and the location in Soho is wonderful. everything is at your fingertips. The hotel offers free coffee and pastries in the morning, wine and cheese in the evenings and cookies at night but the supplies sometimes ran out before the people did.

The front desk was very helpful. She recommended Rubirosa - an Italian restaurant on Mulberry. It was delicious. The hotel is in a great location. Lots of activity nearby. The rooftop bar has great views. And the corner king was an awesome room. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

"Cracking hotel"
A cool hotel just off the main grid of Soho. Friendly staff and decent size room (for NY). Have stayed there once before and will continue staying there when I visit NYC.

The only drawback was the size of the room. We had a lot of luggage because we had been travelling for nearly 3 months. One night was manageable, but any longer a bit more space to spread out would have been good.
"Staff the jewel of the hotel"
Without the gracious conduct of the staff this is an average and overpriced hotel. However, the staff, whether delivering room service, hailing a cab or cleaning the gym were extraordinarily friendly and helpful.

The service stands out to me at the James, they are very helpful and engaged with their guests and made me feel like they were sincere. I would like to see the breakfast restaurant open earlier than 7am but they do have pastries and coffee in the lobby. The roof-top patio is great!

Loved this place. I love staying in really nice hotels, but I hate it when they are stuff. The James has everything and more would expect from a hotel of this caliber without all the stuffiness. I'll definitely be back.

Great location. A nice (maybe too long for some) walk to Little Italy, ground zero, and the Statton Island Ferry (no cost) past the Statue of Liberty. Th roof top pool and bar were very nice, albeit expensive. Staff was friendly and the bartender was great.
LOVED the hotel and the staff was amazing!! Food incredible although service at the Garden was really slow and unorganized. Everyone was more than helpful from the concierge to the manager to cleaning staff. Only one problem my ipad was stolen out of my car at check in when I used valet. It was never recovered. "Fantastic Hotel"
Overall a fantastic hotel and great location close to tube/subway and really professional staff and clean above beyond expectation of hotel comfort. Only few things small pool then anticipated; still I think as they are new to the hotel business working on their staff to make appointments and reservations but they are so friendly and kind. Great computer […] office needs met and super great room and washroom. Love their products Harmonic as well. I would highly recommend this hotel! Lastly I was terribly sick coming into NY and the staff and Manager still tried to give me a credit despite booking through third party so long as I had dates in the end made it in and because of this service ended up staying an extra night with them. "Great hotel however....."
This was a great hotel situated in a great location. The pool never worked while we were there and we were told that the filtration system needed a part that never showed during our stay. During the evening they turn the pool into a night club. We were told by the concierge that because we were guests they could put our name on the list. This was our 4th time at the James! Everyone that works there is so very nice and helpful! It's a place to escape to in the midst of one of the best area in NYC. WE LOVE THE JAMES!

The staff was so nice. The surrounding neighborhood is terrific. The rooms are very chic & hip. Love the morning coffee & pastries, and the early evening wine & cheese. Rooftop pool was a nice way to start the morning.
"Annoying"
Jimmy, the rooftop bar is beyond ridiculous. Cheesy decor, cheesy people and the health dept shut down the pool while we were there. They add a 20% gratuity to all of your bar orders even though you have to walk up to order and retrieve them. They bury this on your itemized receipt and make no call out on the credit card receipt next to the tip line […] that you've already paid. Thus, if you have had too many $17 martinis, you could by mistake end up paying 40% tip. Also, they say check in is at 3pm but when we arrived, they didn't allow us access to our room until 6pm. "Great location but poor service"
Another "cute" boutique hotel with satisfying and comfortable room but no attention to service. Over two nights, the broken phone was never repaired, newspaper was not delivered and the front desk had to be called to have the room cleaned. Being pretty and well positioned helps, but a good hotel has to cover the basic competence of service.
