"Great Hotel for the Money"
I always stay here when I go to Guadalajara. The price is right and the rooms are clean and good sized. One of my hotel requirements is the in-room safe and the safe here is adequate but could be a little larger---my iPad will not fit in it. Besides the small miscommunication between the hotel and hotels.com it was a very good stay. The hotel was in a good area, the service was great, and it was very clean. It's not a fancy hotel so don't expect too much; it's a great deal for visiting the city and we didn't spend too much time indoors. This is the 2nd time I stayed at Portobelo and have been impressed both times. The rooms are always clean. The rooms are quiet (I stayed in a room facing the street and had no issues with noise). The staff is very helpful (although not all speak any English). The surrounding location has a lot to choose from in terms of food (there's also a 7-eleven […] across the street). The location if this hotel is ideal. You can walk down Ave. Juarez to the right to downtown (centro) past stores. If you walk left lots of parks and restaurants. They need more lighting in the rooms or higher wattage in both the bathroom and bedroom. Its kinda dark most of the time, other than that the rooms were great, centrally located and in walking distance to anything downtown. The hotel scent maybe a little strong. This is a great hotel for the price. The service was great, the location wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern, and clean. One day they did not leave towels in our room called the front desk at 6:00 a.m. and they brought them up within five minutes. Stayed for a week the room looked clean and well maintained almost like new. I felt safe and there is free underground parking. One of the light bulbs burned out and the issue was resolved quickly. Tours pick you up from the front lobby and drop you off again,saving you time and money on taking a taxi to a pick up location. Everything was wonderful even the breakfast buffet that you pay 85 pesos for. Room was awesome, water pressure on shower was great. The only thing I didn't like is the receptionist gave access to my room to my mother without my concent while I wasn't there. "Definitely worth the money."
This hotel is worth the money. The room is very clean and very nice. But the food is horrible and the service is OK...the walls are thin though, which is a minus...however this hotel is worth the money because A. It's cheap, B. Quick walk to a bunch of food places, and C. The hotel is VERY CLEAN and looks great. However, don't waste your money on the […] food. "Comfort is very affordable"
My recent stay for two nights at Portobelo was very satisfying. Hotel is conveniently located in downtown with plenty of free indoor parking. Hotel staff is very friendly, smiling and helping. The room size is adequate. Bedding and Mattress is comfortable. The room is very clean and provides LCD TV with surround sound system. Bathroom is clean. Restaurant […] is very appealing and food is excellent. Had a buffet breakfast for 85.00 pesos and every penny was worth. Highly recommend this hotel to Guadalajara Travelers. I arrived early, like 6am, and they allowed me to check in right then. Later that day I noticed they had some Hottub suites. I inquired about the difference in cost and asked if they had one available for the 2 nights I would be there. They said no problem, and allowed me to move my room to the nicer suite for a very modest charge.
