Sijainti rauhallisella alueella, mukava tunnelma, muut asiakkaat lähinnä intialaisia. Makuuhuoneen lämpötila oli liian viileä, muuten ok, hyvin siisti. Emme saaneet deluxe huonetta kaupunkinäköalalla, vaikka olimme sen maksaneet, vaan pienemmän, ilmeisesti jonkin sekaannuksen vuoksi. Tulimme hotelliin illalla, ja vastaanottajalla oli vain heikosti kirjoitettu […] nimilista, jossa nimeni oli väärin kirjoitettu. Olimme vain 2 yötä, joten emme alkaneet vaatimaan uutta huonetta. Colonel's Retreat is a nice home-like hotel in a good and silent neighbourhood (Defence Colony) close to the metro station. Everything went as planned from room booking, airport pick-up to early arrival and departure. The whole personel was very friendly and helpful, gave tips and ideas of what to experience and catered for any needs of our behalf. The […] living room area (with free internet access from the hotel's computer!) is very handy for reading books from the hotel's mini library, chatting with other guests or just hanging around. There is fruit and water available all day around, breakfast every morning (or day if you wish) and It was also possible to order (good) dinner for the evening. Our whole family liked this hotel and all the time felt wery welcome and secure in an otherwise pretty chaotic city. Would definitely visit again! Lisätietoja

I booked the hotel after reading the review at Hotels.com. I don't understand why people recommended this hotel. First of all, this is not a regular hotel, rather a guest house. Room was rather small and the bed was not in a good condition. Staffs were polite but inefficient. Location is also not good. We stayed at Colonel's Retreat for 5 nights, having stayed previously on our last visit to Delhi. The owner Arun is most helpful and was happy to book us taxis on two occasions as well as advising us of the best pharmacy (!) and even offering to take us there in his car. The area is quiet yet convenient for the Metro for travel into the city centre […] or the hotel can order a taxi. The only down sides on this visit were: a) the quality of the service at breakfast which was patchy, on more than one occasion we had to go into the kitchen to ask for milk, juice etc and more than once we received a different breakfast to that we had requested. Perhaps a more mature person in attendance at breakfast time would help? b) twice we had to ask for items for our bedroom which had not been replaced - toilet paper, towels and bathmat. I booked to stay at this hotel based on reviews by previous travellers. I found that the reviews were accurate. The place is neat, very comfortable. It is located in a quiet part of Delhi. I was quite satisfied except that I had a very long hard time to reach/find/get to the hotel which is not the hotel's fault. It may be because of some wrong geographic information by google.

This place was amazing. Everything you would expect from an expensive western hotel chain mixed with the comfort for everything you would expect from a charming bed and breakfast. It was the cleanest place I've ever stayed in Delhi. Reasonable price, friendly staff, quiet area (located in a residential area in Defense Colony a short walk from the market […] area), and CLEAN! Our stay at the Colonel's Retreat was the smoothest way possible to end our visit to India. We walked into a large living room with lovely art and a host of guidebooks on a coffee table, where we were offered coffee or tea on arrival. The room we were given was small but immaculately clean, with a very large bathroom including an almost truly unbelievable […] sight: a bathtub. It also had a small balcony onto a quiet street. Breakfast was a large plate of banana bread, fruit, cereal, our choice of eggs and toast, juice, coffee and/or tea. Most importantly, our host was amazing. He had a wealth of recommendations for us (including specific menu items at a local south Indian restaurant which was some of the best food I've ever had), was kind enough to give us a very late checkout given our late flight and my husband's illness, and even gave me a ride to the nearby (walking distance) shopping/restaurant center when he was headed out anyway. I had some concerns about the location when I wasn't able to get an autorickshaw the next day, but it turns out they were actually on strike so it was just a one-time problem. The hotel is about 8-10 minutes walk from Defense Colony Market, which has a host of excellent restaurants and health food stores. I could not recommend this place enough. The rooms are all delightful here; comfortable beds,exceptionally clean bathrooms (yes I confess I was worried about this in the UK as you get many depressing reports). Breakfast was good with plentiful tea, toast etc and all the staff are warm and friendly. Evening meals can be freshly cooked if ordered in advance and the one I ate was fab and such […] good value. I stayed for nearly 2 weeks, and had very few complaints. The staff was very accomodating, and the building was clean and well maintained. The Retreat is only a couple of minutes from the Defence Colony market, which has great places to eat like Colonel Kebab's and Swagath, decent shopping, and a Citibank bank machine. Colonel's Retreat is a great place to get away from busy New Delhi whilst offering a great location for shopping in Lajpat Nagar or jus tto venture out for dinner at the Defence Colony Market. There are also phone shops and an ATM here and it is also close to the Metro that takes you into the heart of Delhi for very cheap fares (avoid rush hour though […] as it gets very busy). The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good. The rooms are very clean and functional/comfortable - very good by Indian standards. There are alos communal areas for Wifi and relaxing and reading the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet. Colonel's Retreat is not for your average budget traveller but when India was getting all too much it was a wlecome haven for us. We would, and did, return. Lisätietoja

This guest house is a "value for the money" - hospitality, clean linen, clean room and bathroom, internet, breakfast, AC - all minimum you need to spend nights while being out during the day.

I only stayed there one night and it was very clean and comfortable. The neighbouhood was quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. It is also relatively close to the airport if you are only transiting. Breakfast was good and the staff were helpful. I am a solo traveller and will be returning in a week to stay there longer. MW

Viajo una vez por año a Delhi y hoteles correctos en este rango de precios son imposibles de encontrar. El Colonel´s Retreat es casi como una casa, no es un hotel corriente. Muy prolijo y limpio. Tiene vigilancia en la puerta y el barrio está cerca del metro. El personal súper amable y atento. MUY RECOMENDABLE. Al llegar, recomiendo contratar pick up […] desde el hotel (un poco caro) porque el barrio es dificil de encontrar y los taxis de aeropuerto son poco confiables, seguramente lo paseen hasta el cansancio. Muy satisfactoria mi estancia en Colonels Retreat: habitación amplia con baño, limpio, muy amable todo el personal, familiar ..... El único inconveniente es que algunos taxista tenían que preguntar para llegar al él; lo solucionamos llevando un plano de la zona, con la ubicación del hotel.

Sehr hilfsbereites Personal, sehr sauber und gut instruiert. Das Essen am Morgen war super , das Beste bisher in Indien. Leider war der Liftgerade neben unserem Zimmer, was bis gegen Mitternacht manchmal Stoergerausche verursachte
