"Reasonable value"
Well located hotel, good deal through Hotels.com, plenty of parking but a long walk to get inside. We opted for executive suite on top floor which was roomy and fairly quiet. Luckily we were at the end, well away from the lift but could still hear it banging when it stopped at our floor. We woke up in the middel of the night, because of the escalators were very noisy, maybe something was wrong with them? Otherwise it was a very good stay.

Location was OK but went downhill from there. Beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on and very very noisy at night time.

My mum, son and I stayed overnight. It was extremely well priced, the room was modern, clean and inviting. A beautiful pool and pool area which was well maintained. The staff were very obliging. We walked to dinner that night and felt safe. I have no hesitation in stayng there again and would recommend it to anyone

We travelled from the country needing a bed for the night as we had a day of early appointments. Didn't get time to use the facilities but will come back and stay again if we need that side of the CDB.

Chifley on South Terrace is very close to major streets leading into the heart of Adelaide, and close to tram facilities. The rates were very affordable, and rooms very comfortable. Staff were very helpful in giving directions as to how to find different shops and tourist places in Adelaide. Was impressed that there was an affordable easy to use laundry […] service available. This hotel along with the 'Grand chifley' are extremely noisy, I stayed in the Executive king room in both. Cleaners are heard through carboard walls and doors from 7:30am every morning, as well as traffic noise through the single glazed windows generator noises from loud old air con and fridges and conversations from the neighbouring rooms as if they […] were in the room with you. I asked to be moved from the Chifley to the Grand Chifley (two doors down and owned by the same people) thinking It would be quieter (as it was a refurbished hotel and $50 a night extra) but it appears dealing with the noise wasn't a priority for the owners when refurbishing it. Great value for money at our rate, well located, hotel slightly older but on the up side this means very big rooms with high ceilings and large private pool.
The Hotel and room were quite good but the Restaurant food was not. I would stay at the hotel again but would not eat there again.

Hotel was clean , comfortable and convenient for my purposes which were near hutt st..not modern but pleasant room. It's a bit far to walk to main CBD but only one block to free tram which takes you there. My room looked over a park and i could open the balcony door for fresh air. Wi fi was expensive so better to have 3G. Room was cleaned every day […] except one when it seemed to be only half done and towels weren't changed on this day. All in all i felt it was a good choice. Rooms were large & very clean, staff were very helpful & the surrounding area was lovely with parks & an easy walk into the Mall. Very easy to get to with free parking a bonus. We would stay there again.
The motel is conveniently located close to the city of Adelaide but the South Terrace traffic started very early in the morning. This is okay if you wanted an early start. Loved the 11am checkout. Loved the parklands across the road for an early morning stroll. From Roxby Downs

"Comfortable stay"
The hotel staffs are very friendly, and gave us a bottle of free wine. My only concern is the room can hear lots of noise from other room. It is a bit uncomfortable to sleep at night. however, the price is good.

Hotel room was good value for the price and conveniently located. Air-conditioning was an issue - even in winter, the sun was enough to heat up the room and with the unit on high, it still meant that it was a rather warm evening.

"Southside Adelaide Hotel - quiet and convenient"
We arrived at The Chifley hotel tired after long drive from Melbourne. Happily the check-in was quick and we were soon able to get to our family room which was surprisingly spacious. No help with bags but no surprise with hotel in this price range. The TV needed fiddling with to get the best reception which I found odd. Also I think $8 for a beer from […] room fridge to be a bit steep. The Chifley was very good over all but the bed mattress was obviously quite old, very soft, unsupportive and uncomfortable to sleep on. With a better sleep, our stay there would have been excellent.

Overall clean & tidy. Hotel is a little out dated, rooms very noisy if close to the lift.

Great location, great service and reasonable prices for food & drink. Free parking for the car, but rooms are a bit noisy and could hear everything from the adjoining rooms.

Hotel is in a good location and neighbourhood but looking a bit tired 70's style. One major problem is the very noisy lift and if your room is close to it you will be woken up a few times at night. My room was 3 doors down and it was awful. The free tram to the city centre nearby was convenient .

"January 2011 stay"
Excellent hotel with the good sized room which was clean. The hotel is a reasonable walk to the main shopping centre but the free tram from the South Terrace tram station is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel which takes you into the city centre

Excellently presented, a joy to return to at the end of long days.

Excellent although the bathrooms are a bit dated but clean and everything in order. We did experience a bit noise on our first night, but that was other guests being a bit inconsiderate and not the fault of the hotel. Will be an excellent hotel in the summer as it has a pool and after a days shopping a dip in the pool would be wonderful.

Friendly and knowledgable staff - clean spacious and comfortable room facing the Sth Terrace Parklands, short 2min stroll to the Free tram on King William St which takes you the few blocks and into the middle of the city. Not 5star but value for money and very nice place to stay. I would recommend.
