We were looking for a quality hotel in a very central location with quality services and a comfortable room, all at a reasonable price. Beautiful hotel, it was in a quiet-ish part of town, so a little bit of a walk to destinations like restaurants and bars, but Boston is small and feels very safe so nothing is that far. My only […] real issue was the lack of restaurant on-site, so for coffee and breakfast in the morning, or dinner on the night I arrived when I just felt like room service, I had to venture out and find somewhere to eat. stay was great but no restaurant on site....no coffee in the morning...it's the little things. building needs a distinct sign b/c it's easy to miss the hotel. overall a nice, clean hotel. needs a little fine tuning to warm it up a bit but would definitely stay there again.

Very nice hotel, but don't have the restaurant and/or room service.Vi receive the confirmation about hotel reservation inc. breakfast, but hotel didn't have any breakfast.

This hotel was fabulous - excellent location and excellent food. We arrived just after the Boston Bombing and the arrest of the terrorist (Friday evening) so Boston was very quiet - due to the city shut-down the hotel was short-staffed, but they cooked us an excellent meal (ay 11pm)...the best we had in Boston.

We appreciated the proximity of the attractions (museums ,aquarium, cruises, market) and services. The hotel is very nice and clean, the staff is kind.

A night away and I get a room on top15 th floor, poor windows, simple room, nice bathroom, good location, nice lively bar area, breakfast included but went out for it.a friend pad half my price and had a suite which was v.nice..no tea/coffee making in room, mini bar at $$$.

Stayed here for my birthday and was disappointed. Decent hotel, nothing spectacular. Service impersonal, not friendly. I upgraded to loft but was not told that loft was on 3rd floor. Room was basically on top of their loud and club-like bar...not an upgrade to me. There's a train that runs beneath the hotel that's SUPER NOISY, you can literally feel […] the hotel rumble. Sucks when you want to sleep in. For the price and overall experience would not stay here again. Have stayed at London West Hollywood and Sofitel with far superior service and memorable experiences. Located right next to fanueil hall, you really are in the center of everything. Just remember the pictures of the hotel as there is not a specific hotel sign to let you know where it is.

Room was clean. broken closet handle, but fixed promptly. close-up mirror had a light out, they didn't fix that. Good location to sites and business travelers, but subway goes under the building, and you can feel it rumbling through starting around 630 - bring earplugs.

This is a fantastic hotel, modern with original architectual details. The continental breakfast was really good, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, croisants, bagels, muffins, all in a bright sunny setting.

Nice and quiet. The TV had some satellite issues and channels would go missing. The biggest complaint is the desk is under the TV which is OK, but it had the only outlets, so to do work you had to sit right under the TV. That made it hard to relax.

We absolutely loved the Ames Hotel and would highly recommend it to couples looking for a swanky boutique style hotel. As an interior designer, I loved the decor and material selections. The bathroom was great with the heated towel bar, large walk-in shower and dual-functioning shower heads/hand held sprayer. You even have a vintage looking radio in […] your room with ipod hookup:) The hotel staff was fabulous and Charles, the concierge, recommended and made reservations for us at some really great restaurants. The location of the hotel is also ideal in that you are close to everything from shopping and restaurants to historical sites and more. The ease in which to reserve a room is phenomenal. The hotel is in a great mid town location. The rooms are clean And nicely decorated. The view was superb. The mattress beyond comfortable. Took a long weekend trip with my wife and stayed at the Ames. PLEASE NOTE: If you don't have a GPS you may have a little trouble finding this building. There is NO sign and NO number on the building except for a very small plaque on the side of the building. We only noticed it when walking past the building on the second day. Also, the building is right […] next door to a homeless shelter so there were a bunch of hobos hanging around at the end of the block. Not a big deal but not the most attractive site. Now onto the good stuff. The hotel is in a great location and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and seemed like it was recently updated with a very modern look (which I liked). The room was small but four our purposes it was fine. Good place good location room was great staff very helpful. The only issue I had was the cost of,the internet , you should not have to pay for two if you already paid for the use of one, this would apply to couples or kids with Their iPads. The weather sucked too. Looking forward to booking a trip in the summer time.l

I was a little disappointed. All the reviews I read were pretty amazing. I travel a lot and found that the room although nice was not exceptional. Maybe because I had an inside room that was long and thin. If I sat at the desk to do a little work my wife could not walk by me without me having to get up and put the desk chair in.

The only negative thing about this hotel was the breakfast - the variety of food was rather poor, and no service at all. Everything else was pretty good for the hotel's price, especially location, the gym, room comfort, view from the window, bathrooms.

From the Gummy Lobsters to the see-through shower between the bathroom and the living space, this place screams "Not Average." Great place, just think the lobby could be picked up atmosphere wise with some better music and sound system.

The room was functional and clean. The working space was good as was the internet connection. The bed was comfy. The only issue related to the heating system which was noisy and woke me early in the morning.

Hotel well appointed however relative to others in class lacking attention to detail. Mini bar was not fully stocked per guide 7 missing items that potentially would generate extra charges, cordless phone was not working and corded phone stuck on speaker canceling led to disconnect, one shade would not close but at past midnight too late to request […] repair, poor to no ventilation in bath, no robes per ammenities list, in room at checkin. Though often two doormen only once was door offered to be opened during our two day stay. When I visit a hotel, I notice the little things mostly. Price is not really an issue for me so the room rates were fine... The little things that matter to me most were the continental breakfast that did not compare to a Claridon or Holiday Inn. At least you get eggs/bacon/sausage/waffles at those hotels. While I did not mine paying for the internet […] (it is free at other hotels however), I did not like having to pay for the service because I have multiple devices (phone, computer, tablet). I was pleased to find Ames-- it is now my favorite hotel in Boston. So much more refreshing than the dowager queen hotels. The staff was great-- warm, helpful, professional. The place was spotless. The 2nd floor included breakfast was excellent. Very fresh and well-cut fruit. I am a fan.

Great location, great restaurant, really nice continental breakfast included. Very modern, clean, super-updated feel in a traditional old-school Boston building. Small workout room is the only minor complaint, but it does the job. Really great hotel!

I stayed there only 1 day for my first visit to Boston and it was great. Angela is the counter who is super friendly and helpful. This is one of our best stays during our entire biz trip. There are shopping/touristic/food areas around so impeccable in terms of location.
