Holiday Inn Express & Suites Marana - Tucson

The hotel was under staffed as one man ran the desk and the maids were nowhere to be found. A sign was always up at the desk-"Helping a nother guest will be back in 5 minutes." The manager was usually outside smoking and was stingy to give towels. We had 4 guests in our room, and he would only give us 3 towels. He stated that was their policy. The hot […] tub was broken, and the pool was semi clean. The maids were not friendly and stared at you when you asked simple questions. The breakfast was beyond basic and they ran out of food by 7:30am. When we asked the desk about the empty cereal containers, he stated that is all they have. Then later summoned a maid to refill it as more people asked for replenishing of the beyond basic foods offered. The air in the room had one knob to control it and it was high air or nothing. Thus at night we had to hear a loud motor to cool off. Very inconvenient and disturbing. This hotel was a complete dive and disapponitment. The staff were not friendly nor available. Nice Hotel. We would have preferred to not have smoking rooms near ours. The breakfast bar was adequate and the staff was nice. The location was convenient.

Great hotel - close to highway. Others complain about the train being too close. We were fine. I heard it during the day (barely) but it didn't bother me at night (and I'm a terrible sleeper usually). The service wasn't great - when we walked in, the clerk was on the phone and should have at LEAST told us "I'll be with you in a minute, sorry". Instead […] he just kept talking to the client over the phone - for 10 minutes!!! So we sat there like idiots. honestly, if we hadn't prepaid through hotels.com, we would have just walked out and stayed somewhere else. That is uncalled for. If anything, he should have asked the person on the phone to hold and helped us first. (She was just checking on reservations and other menial stuff). I was very angry. My only complaint with the hotel is that the walls were very thin. We heard the people in the neighboring room quite clearly. Otherwise it was great.

My parents are 78 and 89, so even though this wouldn't be my first pick, it is their's. They love the location of the hotels here, because anything they could need is within walking distance ... and they no longer drive. They particularly love being able to have lunch at McDonalds, less than a block away. This Holiday Inn Express was OK. No great shakes. Fine for travel, if you have things to do ten miles NW from downtown Tucson. The internet was a disaster. Didn't work, the staff, though friendly, didn't help much to resolve. it worked for about two hours on one morning. NOTE: this hotel is ***under construction*** at this time (Jan 2012) while we stayed […] there. Not indicated when booked. Also one can hear the trains at night, from the other side of the highway.. Not so nice, if that bothers you; probably you can hear them no matter whichever of the four hotels you choose here. Its rooms are MUCH MUCH nicer & better than the other hotel with which it shares a parking lot. Also nice is the big shopping plaza across the road, & close proximity of standard restaurants. There is a renovation going on at the present time. Because of this there was a lot of noise from construction workers and the hotel was not a pleasant as it may be in the future. The staff was generally positive.

I Booked my room a few weeks in advance for a king room when I arived they said they were over booked and under remodel so I had to get a lesser room at the same rate. The desk man had the attitude of so what . Ask if I could get the right room for the next few night His answer was you have to check with some one else and I ask to leave a note for that […] person, he said really would'nt matter they dont read them and I would be better to check the next day. I have traveled to Tucson for over 20 years to visit family and have stayed in all of the hotels surrounding this one. This hotel is by far the nicest of all of them. The room was clean, recently updated, and had two flat screen tv's. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is currently being remodeled. When we drove up, we found a pile of construction […] debris in the check-in drive way. We thought we had made a bad choice. However, inside, it smelled clean, the check-in clerk was pleasant, our reservation was correct and we were quickly in our room. The free breakfast has a lot of selections. I was really surprised. Very clean and the room was really clean and the carpet was very clean. The breakfast was the best and the cleanest that I have ever had. Eggs were included too. The area was loaded with restaurants but don't go to the Crackle Barrel, I send it all back and too expensive! I did rebook on the spot.

Stayed 3 nights and we were very satisfied (both price-wise and room cleanliness. Wanted to stay another night but they were booked solid.

The hotel was very easy to find off the highway also there were many fast food places as well as a Cracker Barrel and a Road House resturant. this made everything go very smooth

We found that the hotel was a very nice place to stay. Having smoking rooms on our 2nd floor alonfside non-smoking ones was not pleasant as the smoke travels throughout the area and is difficult to ignore. The location was close to the freeway and shopping. We did not get a restful nights sleep due to the noise near our room and the train whistle going all night long. We have stayed at other Holiday Express and enjoyed the stay,

Although the hotel was adequate, I was surprised that non-smoking are often next to smoking rooms. Only the first floor is completely non-smoking which was not explained to us. So every-time we walked into the hallway, the smell of cigarette smoke gagged us. Our bathroom also somehow smelled from cigarettes, probably due to the vents. Our room was quiet, and a comfortable bed and pillows are always a great selling point in a hotel. The room, the hall, and stairway, were very clean. Sure, if you look hard you'll find the areas where repairs need to be done, i.e. peeling wallpaper. Did I mention the room was really clean? No dirty feet when we got into bed at night. The only inconvenience […] was the only sink is in the bathroom--slows down getting ready in the morning when there are four people! Hey--that's my only complaint! It is a few miles outside of Tucson, but let's face it, Tucson isn't so big that it's a real problem. We were going to Old Tucson, and it was about 25 minutes door to door--only 10 of those minutes were from the hotel to the Speedway exit. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel because none of the hotels in the area had gotten good written reviews online. It was little expensive for a Holiday Inn, but this experience was worth it.

The first time I stayed at this hotel I was very impressed. Check-in was great, hotel smelled new, good breakfast. Definitely decided I would stay here again. Each visit since that first has been a little less inviting and comfortable. This time I decided I definitely would not stay here again. nice hotel and a heated pool! close to alot of things in the area. clean, clean, clean. only complaint if you have young kids the, window didn't lock.

I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before, but from now on, I want to stay in one, they are even better than Marriott. This is one of the best hotels I have stayed at and hope to stay there in the future again.

The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and spacious. I would definitely stay there again.
