Foghorn Harbor Inn - Marina del Rey

Our stay here was pleasant. Very helpfull staff and free shuttle service to airport.

The hotel staff was very nice but the room was quite dated and the air conditioner so loud and didn't cool very well.

Awesome place and convenient to Venice Beach!!!

Hotel was nice, about 1.5 miles from muscle beach. There's a cheese cake factory restaurant next to the hotel. Breakfast was not the best but ok to start your day. The double bed room was roomy with microwave and a small fridge. Overall this is a nice hotel although just a little expensive for what it is. No pool or spa. Nice view to the harbor.

Very friendly, clean hotel. A bit eclectic / dated, but satisfied our needs nicely. Volleyball nets and playground on the sand right behind the hotel. Wish I'd had longer to explore.

I would stay at the Foghorn Harbor Inn again! It's about a 5 minute walk to Venice Beach, has a grocery store and Cheesecake Factory next door which is so convenient. Select a room on street level away from the restaurant. Me my husband and our two teenage sons stayed at the Foghorn Inn Easter weekend and we were very happy! We walked to Venice in 10-15 minutes, and the boys played volleyball outside our room. The front desk staff was very nice too.Looking forward to our next trip!

Great! all the way around - they even have a private beach!

This hotel is nice, clean and comfortable. Right on the Marina Del Rey beach and a short walk from Venice Pier. We would have enjoyed it much more if wasn't for the rain.

OMG this place was scary from the front door. Walls are painted cinder block. Smells are musty mold. Beds are soft sponges without any support. Rooms last remodeled in 1970. Bedspread was that old. Towels so thin you can see through. Staff really the one guy on work release who was at the desk was not helpfull or really conversational. Hotel was located in a good safe neighbourhood. I found the hotel to be expensive for what was offered and considering the lack of quality in the room. It was very outdated and in need of a makeover considering the price. The breakfast was continental and was acceptable however not great. We had stayed 3 nights at a MArriot which was very nice but found the smaller size and location right on the harbor a great bonus. The hotel is simple and basic, more personal that the high rise experience. We would definitely go back!

hotel, once we got there, was fine. WE had problems getting the FREE shuttle from the hotel to come get us. It turned out that WE had to make the call to "a" Independent dispatcher, then again back to the hotel, then back to dispatcher. The Hotel doesn't make these calls itself. After nearly a 1 hour wait at LAX we were told to book one of two shuttle […] services by the dispatcher and we'd be reimbursed by the hotel, as they had a contract. So, we did that. (Bad move Mikee). Once we arrived, Hotel Clerk had no cash on hand to do so. Hotel finally said they would reimburse AFTER the shuttle driver left. The hotel was perfectly fine if not a bit dated.

Everything basically OK in a bare-bones way. Nothing fancy, but fine. Clean. Location is nice, easy to get to, right on a marina beach, not far from the little beachside neighborhood at the foot of Washington. I stayed one night. In the morning, I discovered the shower had no hot water. The sink did, but not the shower. That's kind of a basic thing […] to provide. I suppose these things happen, but when I reported it to the desk upon checking out, they really didn't seem to care. "OK, I'll tell them." Oh, will you? I'm so happy. How about an apology, and asking me if I wanted to use another room to take a shower (or apologizing that they can't offer that because the place is full, which it wasn't), or offering me a free night or a discount on a future stay. I wouldn't recommend this place because of that, but I wouldn't warn people off. It's fine for a reasonable price for the area. A very good restaurant in the same building, The beautiful harbour in front of the hotel (a nice beach as well).

beautiful setting, easy access to the marina beach; room was clean and well-maintained but dated; front desk personnel were extremely friendly and helpful, excellent selection of DVDs.

Stayed New Years Eve. I liked the big padio and clean room.

We came to the Foghorn Harbor Inn for our anniversary. Staff was very helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of the Cheesecake Factory and The Chart House. If we come back we would go with the upper level rather than beach level. Bring your bike.

We chose the Foghorn to avoid staying in one of the many hotels along Century Blvd but still be near the airport. We enjoyed our stay with a view of the marina as well as the short walk to the Cheesecake Factory nearby for dinner. Staff very friendly and helpful. Yes, this is an older property with well worn mattresses, but it is clean and comfortable. The location is on the beach, which beats the Marriott. The staff is very helpful and you just can't beat the walking paths along the harbor. The lobby is furnished with snacks, coffee, and DVD's to make it comfortable for those on a long stay.

Great location, a little expensive for what you get but location is everything. Very nice staff.

Location good! Hotel old but Clean! Could use a little furniture and linen updating. Plenty of restaraunts nearby. Close to Venice beach.

This is a little gem. This small hotel is close to LAX without having to deal with elevators, bellmen and all that goes with a large operation. Parking is right outside the door, a market is conveniently located adjacent, the breakfast room is facing the sandy beach with a great assortment of goodies. Great Place and VERY convenient for me as I was seeing a boat

Good rooms with AC and porch over looking the beach and marina. Breakfast was excellent and included in the room rate! Parking is free, and the area was close to all major freeways, Venice & Santa Monica Beaches, and good food close by. Much better than staying downtown LA!

Room was nice and location was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Only issue was walls were very thin and could hear everything in next room plus wish they had put door closers so doors did not slam shut all the time.

My husband and I found the Fog Horn Inn to be comfortable and convenient for our stay in Marina del Rey. The view of the water was lovely and our room was quiet and clean.

Nice location but wat you see is wat you get and the rest isn't that pretty. Been there for three days plus was outside space for every room.

The hotel was close to a beach inside of a Marina. We met som locals who asked why we'd booked a hotel on the dirtiest beach of LA. They meant the water and not the beach, the beach was great and had volleyball courts everywhere. We though we had booked a hotel in the Santa Monica area, meanwhile this turned out to be Venice. Santa Monica is definitely […] the better of the two. Venice and the surrounding area was filled with some strange people who seemed to have done a bit too many chemicals, medical marijuana was a common sales object on the beachwalk. The room and the hotel was certainly ok, the wifi worked fine, breakfast was simple but good. If you do decide to stay here, go and have a burger at the Islands restaurant a couple of blocks away and have desert at the Cheesecake factory next door. Good stuff! Lisätietoja

Hotel is not too far from airport and location is beautiful and quiet - right on the beach, Beach views superb. The manager was very friendly, very knowledgeable about the area and very helpful when we had a problem. Breakfast was help yourself, loads to choose from and the maritime themed murals were unique. The Hotel adjoins a busy Cheesecake Factory Restaurant which has good food every night . However rooms at this end of the building are next to the kitchens and dining terrace . So at the end of the evening cleaning and talking goes on into the early hours of the morning ( on 2 nights it continued until 3.30am ). Mainly talking sliding chairs , the clatter […] of plates & cutlery and staff conversations and gossip at the end of a busy night ! The hotel is close to a beach in the Marina where literally 100`s of yachts and motor cruisers are berthed so the water is not very clean . There are no sun beds or umbrellas on the beach and very little shade , plus the area immediately outside the hotel rooms is reserved for volleyball courts which prevents any sunbathing . There is a busy pedestrian ( and dog walkers) pathway that passes by the downstairs rooms and breakfast room so little privacy is offered if you want to use your terrace , upstairs rooms have no space for sun loungers on the balcony We were told that whilst Venice Beach was only a 10 minute walk away it was not safe to go there after dark . Overall the service was best described as disinterested , apart from an "executive director" who offered to change our room but could not , or would not , offer his staff to help do it and as we were just leaving on a LA Coach Tour we were left unable to physically move our clothes etc and remained stuck in a noisy bedroom with regular interruptions throughout the night . In addition the air conditioning unit was so old that it rattled when on and you either had to remain quiet and hot or noisy and cool Breakfast was in a small room - all self service - and was just about OK - cereals + juice + toast + microwaved sausage & egg rolls . I stayed at the Foghorn Harbor Inn in July 2011 after a week in Downtown LA and I loved it. I wanted somewhere to relax after a busy week and Marina Del Rey is the place to go and the Foghorn Harbor is very peaceful, it is really well placed with a great view of the marina, a convenience store is next door and a restaurant is a 5 minute walk away. The […] room was homely, take that as you will, it wasn't a contemporary decor but it was very comfortable, clean and quiet. There was a fridge, microwave, cable TV and free WiFi. My room had a marina view which was a sidewalk width from the beach. The staff were always friendly and very helpful - smiles all round. There was loads of info booklets about what to do in the area and the front desk were always on hand to offer help and advice. Hotel service was great. Be sure to walk to Venice and ride a Bicycle to Santa Monica Pier. The walk to Venice Beach is only about 10 minutes. Hotel is located on a huge marina with beautiful boats and plenty to do on the beach right outside the side doors. Will stay again if ever back in the area!

The Forghorn is in a great location but it is showing its age and has not been updated recently (like in the last 20 years from the look of things).
