Ettington Chase Hotel and Conference Centre - Warwickshire (kreivikunta)

We really loved this hotel.

I didn't have great expectations due to reading the reviews but was pleasantly surprised! Rooms were large and very clean. The parking lot was very large and the staff were great. A comment I read said it was low budget, but that's not the impression I got at all.

My wife and I stayed here recently for two nights. Very stylish, comfortable and functional rooms. Had the breakfast and evening meal option. Very good quality and reasonable prices if you choose to pay cash - £25 a head for 3 courses. All starters and desserts £5, all mains £15. Very enjoyable. One slight whinge, pint of lager and double vodka & Red […] Bull £14...I know I don't get out much nowadays but this seems a little excessive. The staff are extremely polite and accommodating, all work with a smile on their faces. Well done to all of them. The pool is nice and warm and the sauna is worth a go. The gym looked ok but I'm far too lazy to bother! This is a good hotel. Maybe on a weekday it has a corporate feel but on a weekend it feels perfect for a relaxing place to be. Give it a try! After reading the reviews on this site my expectations weren't particularly high, but as we had found such a cheap deal - 159 pounds 2 night inc breakfast and dinner on first night we thought we'd give it a go. the hotel is much nicer than we expected, the staff are all extremely polite and professional, the dinner we had on the first night was exceptionally […] good, and the breakfast was good too. the pool is lovely and warm, warm enough that our 3 month old baby enjoyed it! This isn't a 5 star hotel so it isn't luxury, but it's a well run 4 star, i would definately go back to. Lisätietoja

What a shame that this lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings is spoilt by their restaurant. The menu is very limited which in itself is not a bad thing unless of course it's not changed on a very regular basis. The food was obviously reheated. The duck dish that I ordered was bordering on being off and had obviously been kept for to long. My partners […] meal was served with BURNT accompaniments. Despite the best efforts of the restaurant manager in offering an alternative either more reheated dishes or a gammon steak we decided that we would depart. A nice evening spoilt with no dinner and no chance of getting to another restaurant in time to eat. The standards were so low that we decided to not even attempt breakfast. I can however recommend the food served in all four of the other restaurants we tried in Stratford during our stay. Eat here at your peril !!!! Lisätietoja

We did not have the room we booked and paid for only a standard room, were told hotel full of conference guests so they could not put us in right room (executive room booked). Champagne was not in room when arrived had to ask twice before delivered to room. Bar area was bare has all furniture had been moved for Conference guests. Bar area was left undtidy […] and dirty after Conference guests had finished. Hotel was cold and bar area very uncomfortable to sit in. Bar staff starting to clean pipes as 5.30pm on Sunday and was not complete until 7pm Sunday evening. Bar was not available during weekend day time. They had no bacardi and no lemons for G & T. No Steak available on bar menu. Restuarant service was very slow. Should be advertised as a Conference venue not as a getaway from it all Hotel.Ordinary paying guests were treated like second class citizens All in all totally miserable weekend which was booked for our 10th Wedding Anniversay as a special occasion. The hotel is very nice but definitely caters more for functions and conferences rather than the hotel guest. for example full facililties are open when these are on but not any other time. I have never stayed in any hotel where the bar is closed on a sunday at lunch time til 5pm. If any functions were on the bar was open to all. The hotel were willing […] to supply food/drink but after persistent asking then a lengthy wait.Also the hotel had run out of stock of things due to a wedding the day before. Surely these things are sorted out in advance. We had to move rooms after the first day as we were next to the fire exit and people were constantly in and out and also just stood there smoking. The hotel housekeeping staff were excellent. I was very excited about my weekend as it was our anniversary. When we arrived, the old part of the building was lovley, the lounge a bit dated. When we went to our room, I found it very conference orientated and not what I was really after. The room was well equipped (no fridge), but had everything really (some biscuits would have been nice with the […] tea/coffee as it is meant to be 4 star hotel.. We ate at the restaurant which was modern and the food was good. My brother stayed at The Barcelo down the road as Ettington messed up his booking, which he found much nicer. The hotel was obviously more interested in conference groups and had a working feel about the public areas. The dining room is rather dark and depressing and the food rather overpriced. The main problem was that the digital switchover had taken place the day before we arrived and TVs in the bedrooms had still not been set up - so no access to news and […] only 3 channels working. But if you are visiting Compton Verney it is very convenient and nice pubs in the village offer a much better deal for an evening meal. recently stayed at the Principal Hayley hotel in Windsor which was far superior. If you travel by car, it's very easy to find. There's a wedding ceremony held when we stayed this hotel but my room was totally quiet and could have a good sleep. Unfortunately several stains were found on the bed cover and the bath room facilities are not enough maintained, however, this is good hotel, value for money.

The Ettington Chase is a nice hotel and good value if you book it last minute. I've stayed there a few times before, however, this time, I had such good service from Niall that I thought it warranted a review. It's attitudes and politeness such as his that makes these hotels good. Thanks!

Booked 7 double rooms for family and friends to relax before my wedding at a nearby location. Loads of rooms, excellent quality, full English breakfast the next day and a large pool to relax in. I even managed to bag a great rate, as booked when Hotels.com had a massive sale on!

We had a very good stay at Ettington Chase. We were going to Stratford Racecourse which is a mere fifteen minute drive. We had about 10 rooms in total and overall it was very satisfactory. Newer superior rooms were quiet and well appointed (though could use a fridge) whilst other rooms in hotel were adequate albeit in need of updating. We used the pool, […] gym and tennis courts which were well maintained though common hallway needs new carpeting. Staff were friendly and there are plenty of seating areas for people to convene around the hotel. Going to the nearby Chequers Inn was superb- five minute walk from hotel so all could have a drink without worrying about driving. Food was delicious. Lisätietoja

Booked in at reception, all were lovely and polite. Room was a typical 3/4 star and more than adequate (no air con, but ok I would say for most times in UK). Breakfast again was very good and a standard buffett as in most hotels, staff were accomodating and polite. Did not eat in the hotel, as we like to go out, but if you go into Stratford there is […] plenty of choice, would recommend the Encore on the riverside and the Edward Moon, prices range from £9.99 for a 2 course pre theatre (before 7pm) upwards, drinks & wine are also reasonable. The Hotel is approx 5 miles from Stratford, Warwick about 10 miles and Costwolds about 15 miles, so within easy reach of most places. My wife and I are in the national trust so took the opportunity to visit some of the houses, Coughton Hall and Upton being very good. As some reviews mention, this is also a conference centre, it was busy for a few days, but this did not interfere with us. They also have the occassional coach party and of course weddings, but they seem to cope very well with these. Oh nearly forgot, there is also a good size swimming pool and gym etc, which unfortunately we did not use but was by others, towels are supplied there and you just need a £1 for the locker. WiFi is also free but you have to logon every 30 mins, but is ok for a quick peek at you emails and not every hotel has this and is a bonus. TV has the 5 channels + a few others but you are either on holiday or working so there should be no issues there. Had no problems with the mobiles, O2 & 3G, we were on the top floor, so perhaps reception is better. You should however remember that you are in the heart of the beautiful countryside surrounded by forest and hills, so radio and mobile signals will occassionally be intermittant. We were more than satisfied with the hotel and the grounds were fantastic, great for a family stay. The only problem was when there was a wedding on during our stay the bar in the evening was obviously understaffed and our food took a long time to be served and one meal ticket was forgotten about. Myself and my boyfriend stayed here just for 1 night but really wish i had booked longer....What a experience iv been to many hotel throughout england but the ettington chase really is amazing. Very friendly staff spacious room and lovely leisure facilities would defo reccomend to anyone

Having read reviews by previous visitors to this hotel I was expecting our visit to be OK but had my reservations. However I was pleasantly surprised, they are obviously in the midst of refurbishing (new carpets had just been laid) and everything was very clean and tidy. The room was very comfortable, breakfast spot on and whole environment very relaxing. We'd […] booked a meal for Saturday evening at the Chequers Inn (as recommended by previous visitors) which is just 5 minutes walk away and we were not disappointed. This is an excellent hostelry with a mmenu to suit most tastes. Glad I'd booked ahead as the restaurant was full on the evening of our visit and the alternative pub down the road was closed (not sure for how long). For our stay this hotel was fantastic value, offering great buffet breakfast, reasonable rooms and use of the pool. Remember to pack a face-cloth as these are not provided in the rooms!

Stayed in the old part of the hotel in a superior room, large room, king bed, great bathroom and all facilities. The only complaint is that they water down the fruit juice in the mornings!!

Decided to have a night away with family but........... # Check in staff clueless, arrogant, and very poor English making communication very hard with just the basics like our name and even room number. # Room very dull and dark (smallest window ever) although room a good size. # Bathroom stuck in the 1980's - more 2* than 4* # Kettle cord about 6 inches […] long only - had to plug in VERY close and behind the 'small' TV # Plastic drinking cups in a 4* room - Yuk. # Finally checked in at 2.15pm - still awaiting roll out bed to be put in our room at 6.30pm so our 5 year old could go to bed. # Found suspicious bug in the morning on the bathroom floor. # No aircon or fan in room. # No fridge or mini bar in room. # Don't be fooled by pictures in general these are very selective. We have stayed here before and will stay here again. It is a beautiful hotel with lovely facilities and surroundings and very near to Stratford-Upon-Avon. The room was lovely and very clean. Approaching the hotel along the scenic country roads is a delight, and left me with the anticipation that it would be a relaxing and quiet location. On arrival the large but very attractive building loomed out with unexpected grandeur. "Very nice" I utterred. Up the steps into the main entrance further enhances the feeling of top class, and greetings […] from and efficient and friendly staff added the cherry to the cake. Standing in the foyer looking around I saw to my right a room beautifully labled as Library. Behind the plush counter was a large window with a view over part of the lovely gardens and surrounding areas. As I made my way to the bedroom the grand scale of the building continued, with my eyes being drawn to a host of interesting and inviting looking areas. Pity I'd only booked one night. The bedroom was neat, clean, very comfortable and with all the extras that I might have hoped for. (Also, everything worked perfectly) The meal in the restaurant was great and I headed back to my room for a quiet and restful sleep. My booked wake-up call was right on cue, and breakfast was a treat with enough there to cater for my non-meat eating diet. The hotel is situated outside the village of Ettington. Seems to cater for a lit of confernces. Room ok with usual view looking into somebody else's room. Meals and bar prices expensive. Very noisy with delivery vans delivering early each morning. Guess I was near the delivery access !!

Hotel is not bad at all for the price. We had a lovely double delux room, big and huge bathroom with freestanding bath and massive separate shower. Used the little gym and pool, sauna, all very nice. Only complaint I have is the buffet breakfast, cold plates and luke warm food and when I asked for decaf coffee was given a pot of instant coffee - yuk […] but all in all a nice nights stay. The meals we had were substandard and the pipes needed cleaning to the bar as this affected the taste of the beer. Staff were friendly and helpful although not trained very well in how to long after a bar. I had a ribeye steak and they served me a rump steak. Glad I was only there one night. Was embarrassing as I had colleagues with me.

We stayed on a Sunday night so it was very quite and very empty so possibly not representative of a regular stay in the week. However this is a hotel that majors on conferences and weddings it seems so for us as a lone couple it was not that welcoming and felt quite sterile and lacked personality and charm. The restaurant was very quiet too but the […] food was mediocre. I think one downside was the wifi which no-one amongst the staff new anything about and because of a recent hack all that was available was a low speed service that ran for 30 minutes before you had to re-register. But it never worked for me as the browser was not set up for safari so would not work at all on ipad or iphone.. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the above hotel, all staff were very polite & helpful and the facilities were of a very good standard along with the quality of the meals. Its location was ideal for visiting a variety of different places within the area. The good price paid through Hotels.com also added to making it a very pleasant weekend.

This Hotel is warm welcoming and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We did have a small problem with a smell in the room which was sorted out, but the room wasnt as clean as we would expect from a 4 star hotel. Overall a lovely experience the village is close by and very sweet.

Rooms were a good size but of an average standard. The hotel is situated in lovely grounds, and the spa facilities are defintely worth taking advantage of. The breakfast was excellent.

A very nice weekend break, all the staff were extremely helpful and polite. Nothing was too much trouble from arriving a bit late for breakfast, to asking for more tea and milk for the room. The leisure facilities were great, ideal on a very cold and icy day.

We stayed 1 nite..it was v pleasant and clean. The pool etc v nice too. breakfast was a buffet..good variety. they didn't have tabasco which was a disappointment..but all else was good.

Amazing value seeing that it is so close to Stratford. Gym not that big and sauna not working on the first njight, but on the whole excellent value for money. Receptionist especially helpful, but all staff very friendly.

The hotel was lovely the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very nice with a lot of choice and they provided a high chair for my son at the table which was very helpful. All in all a great stay would highly recommend.
