Gaige House, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel - Glen Ellen

I loved the room and the grounds - they were so beautiful! We wished we were staying longer since it was nice and relaxing.

Our weekend away was great! Gaige House was wonderful, as were every member of their staff. We got massages in their spa and it was phenomenal! If I lived closer to Gaige House, I might "cheat" on my regular massage therapist for theirs.

We had a great time here. The service was great and the amenities wonderful. There's restaurants in walking distance, wineries close by and it nice and quiet (no crazy tourist traffic). Can't wait to go back!

I would say that the hotel itself was a gorgeous old home that has been lovingly restored and has incredible manicured gardens. The sound was an issue in my room as I could hear all conversations next door and people walking above me. The most difficult part for me was the styling of the room. It felt completely disconnected from the location and the […] true architecture of the actual house. I saw two rooms, one with an asian theme and the other was african. Both of them were kind of worn down and looked dated, not cool. I would say everything else was fine, but I just couldn't get past the cheesiness that contradicted the history of the home. Maybe some of the other rooms are better. Plus, privacy was a bit of an issue in my room as you could see through the sides of the blinds on the glass door since they stuck out so far. Stayed there for 3 nights last week, excellent service and personal atmosphere. Daily cheese platters from 5:30 to 6:30 a great bonus and simple yet super breakfast served daily. Would love to stay there again!

The shower goes hot then cold constantly, it gets very chilly especially on this freezing winter days! Not worth the price of what I paid for. Could have chosen a better choice.

We needed a weekend escape from the city jobs. We needed to recharge, relax, and reconnect with one another in a comfortable and quaint setting. The Gaige House was the perfect solution. My girlfriends first words once we got into our room was, "this is how I want to decorate." Also, everything about the breakfast was delicious.

Our weekend at the Gaige House in Glen Ellen was an amazing, relaxing weekend. The grounds and facilities were beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious.

Could not have asked for a better experience here. So relaxing! If we come back to wine country again our destination will most definitely be the Gaige House!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at the Gaige house during our honeymoon. My first impression was how beautiful and unique the b & b looked. I still wasn't prepared for the 'zen' experience that awaited us in our Zen suite. From the outdoor patio area overlooking a nearby stream to the separate ultra-modern bathroom, the room was truly […] unlike any other we had seen. As foodies, the wine and cheese pairing hour and the delicious breakfast were added bonuses. The staff were very helpful, and were always willing to go the 'extra mile' for their guests. Wonderful breakfast and breakfast room.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gaige House. The concierge service was excellent and we had great recommendations from Peter. The fresh baked cookies were a plus and the grounds were lovely. My fiancé and I stayed here two nights and I wish we had longer- the most relaxed I have felt since we started planning our wedding... The flowers outside our room smelled amazing:)

My pregnant wife and I showed up to the Gaige House late at night after a wedding in St. Helena (which is a tedious 45 minute drive from the Hotel if you thought, as we did they were in closer proximity.) We were greeted by a very friendly and courteous night attendant and after a hot shower settled into a beautiful and clean bed around 1am. Our problem […] began at about 6am when directly above our heads staff was preparing the dining room for breakfast. Their job I know, but after only a few hours sleep and no sound proofing between their table/chair set up and our heads, it sounded like Cowboys were wrangling cattle in our room. My wife and i wearily dragged our red eyes up stairs cause if you can't drown them out, may as well join them. Breakfast was amazing and the serving staff was a friendly as they come in a truly beautiful setting. Only when we checked out did i get truly frustrated. We thanked them for our stay and after their prompting mentioned the lack of sleep and some means for remedying the sound problem. I was told basically sorry, tough sh#%, we dont care that we woke up you and your pregnant wife after five hours of sleep. but come on back and we will happily take your money do it again! The Gauge House was an outstanding stay on our trip in Wine Country. The amenities were amazing and the breakfast was great! We loved the wine and cheese tasting in the evening. We enjoyed a nice weekend at the Gaige. Friendly staff, great wine hour and fresh cookies in the hall each day, and a great light breakfast in a nice dining room. Only thing to keep in mind is that the rooms in the main house are in an old Victorian, so you might hear the reception area or folks in the hall.

The hotel was very cute and romantic! The ladies @ the office were very helpful and polite. They had a nice hot tub, good after a day of wine tasting. They had a really nice, gourmet complimentary breakfast... very surprised how nice and detailed it was! They also have complimentary wine hour and have baked goods in the lobby. Highly recommend!

The grounds are beautiful, the setting tranquil, and the room cute, modern, clean and comfortable. We had the cheapest room (queen), so I can only imagine how nice the other ones are. Old Victorian Inn, beautifully renovated. Incredible modern spa like room, with gorgeous bathroom. Perfect blend of old and new. The staff was very friendly and service oriented. Highly recommend the Gaige House to anyone staying in Sonoma. There are only 20 rooms and each one is slightly different. It feels more like you're staying at someone's house than at a hotel. Each room has it's own entrance and it looked like all of them had their own patio. Our room was one of the cheaper ones in the hotel but it was fairly spacious […] and very comfortable. Breakfast and an evening wine reception are both included and were both very good. There are also a lot of little features like a DVD library, nice pool and hot tub and a creekside hammock. The hotel is convenient to many wineries and is also just down the street from several good restaurants. It's a great option to walk the 3 blocks down instead of having to drive somewhere after a day of wine tasting. We had no complaints during our stay and would definitely stay there again. This is the second year we have stayed at the Gaige House. I love the friendliness, and wholesomeness of the hotel. The pool area is amazingly serene, as is the creek behind the property. The only reason I gave a 4 for comfort for the room is the room is fitted for be handicap accessible. and didn't quite have the warmth and coziness of the room we […] stayed in last year. There needed to be a full screen for the front door, and there is no patio on this Poolside room as the pool and yard is right outside the door. The jacuzzi in this room needed some caulking, but otherwise everything else in the room was pristine. I would suggest since teh bed is so far away from the TV to have a larger TV in that room. As for the cool things about this hotel. They make homemade cookies each night and set them out for the guests. They also have flashlights for them you walk to the local restaurants. The internet is free. They have wine tastings at night and have the papers out each day. And they make homemade breakfast each day. And not your orginary Comfort Inn stuff, but beautiful wholesome food. One morning my husband came to breakfast late and the chef personally got him a plate of food even though the breakfast service was over. My husband routinely drinks protein shakes and again the chef was kind enough to put the shake in her mixer, so that my husband didn't have to drink a lumpy shake. We stayed two nights in early August. They served very nice breakfast with fresh fruit and good croissant. The bed was not so comfortable. Every time my husband turned, the whole bed shook and creaked. My mother stayed in a different room and complained about the traffic noise from the road. When we arrived one hour and a half early before their check-in […] time, we were very tired and disappointed that they did not expedite the cleaning of our rooms. Gaige House is a lovely hotel in a serene setting with the exception of the main road. We, unfortunately, had a room in the front of the hotel where we were awakened very early by truck traffic. The back of the hotel is very quiet and inviting so you might want to know where your room is before you book it. There is a wonderful deck in the back, but […] again unfortunately, you cannot be on it after 7 pm because there are rooms below the deck. Good for the rooms below the deck - not good for the other guests who would enjoy sitting with a glass of wine on the deck. My husband and I splurged on one night at the Gaige during our CA road trip. It was very much worth it! What attracted us most was the huge granite soaking tub, and it didn't disappoint! We spent a lot of time in that tub. The whole room and bathroom were just gorgeous. Two outdoor spaces--one fenced in courtyard to view from the tub and shower and […] one lounging spot. There was also a gas fireplace that was easy to use and very comforting, with two comfy chairs right nearby. The bed was firm and provided a great night's sleep. Outside the room, there was wine and cheese served in the evening, after which the front desk made us a reservation at a restaurant that was right down the street. And breakfast was fantastic, though they had trouble keeping up with the number of guests attending. Homemade granola, lovely pastries, good coffee, in a lovely dining room. Stayed in one of two Zen Suite wings, separate one-storey buildings across the parking area from the main house. Beautiful room, private patio with lovely landscaping, huge bathroom with dual sinks, deep granite tub, two shower heads, lots of natural light from interior Zen garden. even with a discount for this room it seems like a lot of money to pay for a room with a bed and a bathroom! It was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was not included in the price. There was a fair amount of road noise. The folks at check in were not particularly friendly.

We had booked their standard queen suite, which was great. The bathroom was spectacular. The location is perfect, very quiet but at walking distance from great restaurants like Saffron and The fig Café. My wife actually booked the room and was very excited to stay at the Gaige House after seeing great reviews by Conde Nast and other travel reviews. I can honestly say the staff, property, room and amenities exceeded all of her expectations and greatly impressed me. The rooms are perfect escapes for a couple - even the studio (which is what we had) […] is spacious and had its own private deck area. My wife loved the spa tub and sepate shower as well as the in-room fireplace and reading nook. The staff was extremely hospitable - even going out of their way to help me set up a nightime picnic as a surprise for my wife on the grounds near the pool. Quaint little hotel in Glen Ellen. My boyfriend especially enjoyed the fresh baked cookies. We had coffee and read the paper by the fireplace. Great pool and hottub. We would definetely stay here again!

This hotel is so small it felt like a bed and breakfast. I was so impressed with the Gaige suite that I cannot wait to return. It was so romantic to be isolated under the stars in the middle of trees. The staff was so nice. Great hotel, very comfortable. Will definitely return.

I guess that I read so many wonderful reviews on this lovely B & B in the heart of Sonoma wine country that I was a little disappointed in my room which was a deluxe king. I just thought it was more ordinary than I expected. I know there were probably other rooms in other categories that were more outstanding. Room number nine was below the kitchen area and since 7 am we would awake to dishes and glasses, as well as people walking on top of us. I was very disappointed. I asked to be moved and the hotel was booked.
