A classic hotel with wonderful service, staff and views. Perfect location for all the restaurants, shops and the beach, cant fault it.

This is a wonderful vintage hotel right on the beach in the middle of town. Re-built in the 1930s, it retains it's old California charm. Rooms are small and furniture is old but who cares? Great location. Oldest hotel in Laguna Beach, the lobby has tons of wonderful old photos. They give you free drink coupons to be used at the bar which sits right on the beach, perfect for watching the sunset. Rooms are clean but small, check out took forever.

Hotel service/staff was great! Room were not up to par at all...need serious renovation...however the historical value and ocean/shorline view from room was worth it. This hotel has a lot of character although very small rooms. We got an oceanfront room so one window had the beautiful ocean and the other window view was the top of the building with junk on it. We stayed one night at Hotel Laguna for a girls' trip. We had read the reviews beforehand, so were prepared somewhat for the dated rooms, and they certainly were dated. But clean for the most part. The lobby and bar/restaurant were beautiful, and the view from the balcony was unmatched in Laguna! Our rooms faced the park, so it was a little noisy, but […] again, that was expected. Hotel is slightly dated - this is not a 5 Star resort -- but Hotel Laguna is on the beach and in downtown Laguna Beach. If you like those things, you won't find a better deal. My family stays there every time we visit Laguna. Surrounding food is expensive, parking adds $10/day, but taken all together, it's a great and economical place to stay.

This is an old, old, old hotel in the best part of town. You're steps from the beach and shops. Keep that in mind. I think the focus here is that hotel management is trying to maintain a certain historical perspective to the hotel. You'll walk in and see a sign-in book from the 1930's. Just returned from a short stay at the Laguna Hotel. Great location in centre of Laguna Beach, with adjacent car park ($10 per night charge). Great bar overlooking the beach & ocean. Lobby area nice with lots of old photos of the hotel. Rooms very dated and in need of refurbishment. Dont get excited about the complimentary continental breakfast (coffee […] machine, juice machine, & cornflakes to go.) If you don't plan on spending too much time in your room, then go for it. Charming historic hotel in the village. Nice private beach with towels/chairs, good restaurant but, free breakfast was not much to speak of. Would certainly reccomend.

While I enjoyed my stay over a weekend in August, I'm glad that I did not pay the full published rates for the hotel room in which I stayed and instead paid the discounted rate through Hotels.com. That's because the room was just okay and should have been much better for the price compared to other hotels in which I've stayed in the same price range. […] They could improve the carpeting, have better bathrooms, have less lumpy beds, have room air conditioners or central air conditioning, and have ice-makers available in the hallways outside. However, I did find the room to be very clean, they did have complimentary breakfast, and the service was superb throughout the hotel. Paradoxically, the hotel did a wonderful job of doing up its external facilities such as the restaurants, gazebo, shops, and spa. The location of the hotel was outstanding in its proximity to the beach and dining, shopping, and leisure facilities in the surrounding town. We were hotel guests for two nights at this hotel. We were greeted at the front desk by a young blond lady who was either annoyed, or preoccupied, or at least seemed so. We kept waiting for a hospitable smile. It barely surfaced, as we were handed our keys. The location was perfect. Close to the beach, the shops and the free shuttle bus to take you […] to the art festivals, ect. The rooms are not air-conditioned, but since the weather was perfect, this was not an issue. The bathroom was tiny, and soaps and shampoos were replenished only if you asked. Also had to ask for cups to be provided. A big blob of collected dust came raining down from the ceiling vent onto the floor, and barely missed my head. There was no fan, or it was not working in the bathroom. Otherwise our room was clean and comfortable. The main area's carpet looked as if it could be replaced by a less stained and worn -out one. But considering the central location of the hotel, and the fact that you could be lulled to sleep by the waves lapping onto the shore, we would gladly stay at the Hotel Laguna again. Lisätietoja

Laguna Beach Hotel was amazing. Hotels.com made the reservation and somehow the hotel itself had us in a beach view room for the next day. So... they went ahead and gave us the Bogart/Becall suite (an upgrade) and told us the history. The room was great...an almost complete view of the ocean front, above a lovely garden and with the windows open all […] night the waves crashing lulled us to sleep. When we told people that we were staying there many tourists told us our hotel was a stop on their tour! The history of Laguna is in pictures along the main hallway. We were in the middle of the entire Festival...short walk to all of the main activities for the Pageant of the Masters, Sawdust, etc. Did not eat at their restaurant which is oceanfront but across the street at many others...all good. Room was refurbished, in good shape, flat screen, king and very comfy all white, clean bedding, old fashioned bathroom. Really a nice change from super modern hotel. A real historic trip. Loved the lovely people at the small front desk. They know the entire history and hope that you ask. Right next to the beach and a private beach for the hotel. We would stay there again for sure. Hotel Laguna may have some years on it but it has taken advantage of this history and garnered a patina which is both charming and comforting.

If you don't mind your shower going from hot to cold to hot to cold along with ANCIENT plumbing, this old, right on the beach hotel was a winner for us. Right in the heart of Laguna Beach just a block from the main intersection, it meant far less walking and far more enjoyment. Our reservation was with Mandalay Bay but they put us in their "sister" hotel (connected by walkway) the Four Seasons. The Four Seasons was totally awesome! We were on the top floor with a deluxe King room overlooking the strip of Vegas. The room was huge and the bedding was very luxurious. We went to the pool at the "Moirea" at Mandalay Bay and it […] was fantastic! Topless ladies, rocking music and lots of friendly folks all looking to have some fun! What's not to like! Hotel Laguna was a lovley hotel right on the beach. However; we felt like it was a bit over priced for the amenitis offered. There was not a mirror to be found in th entire room. Next time we stay there we will be sure to be more specific about what a "beach front" room is. This hotel needs a major overhaul! Carpets were filthy and worn out. The only good sabout our room was the view, yet the windows were broken and couldn't much at all. There also is no air coinditioning in the room. Had I known that I would have stayed elsewhere. As a matter of fact i wish I had. STAY AWAY!

Hotel is charming, but dated. We were left waiting for 45 minutes at check-in because the room was not ready, but staff was very responsive and curteous, if somewhat disorganized. The location is fabulous -- right in downtown Laguna Beach and beachfront. I would definitely stay there again.

A classic hotel - undergoing modernization but still worth the stay. Wonderful staff and location. Great restaurant! Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, Eroll Flynn and other legendary stars have stayed here in its heyday!

The hotel is in a prime locale. My main requirement is nice bedding and I was very pleased on that front. The bathroom was original and rather tiny. That being said, the value is big considering the cost of surrounding hotels. This place is for those who want a clean room, and to walk to food, shops and the beach. Loved the hotel staff - had great breakfast & lunch on the patio and a wonderful 3 course dinner at Claes. The view from our room was fabulous but the room was very small and the bathroom was miniscule. It was clean and the water was hot. They need to add a full length mirror on the closet door. Would go back for the views, location and food.

I got a "partial view" of the ocean, but it was not a partial view, it was almost a full fiew with hand crank windows that open to let the breaze and sound of the waves in. Also the view was of main beach and the main beach park. A childrens toy store within view and steps away and all of down town right there. The staff was friendly. The hotel is old, but the lobby is modern. The staff is very friendly, professional, and accomodating. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on that, but I can tell you that the hotel is in the most prime location in Laguna Beach. We stayed in room 126, which was on the "first" floor of the hotel, but above street level. We had a view of the […] courtyard and the water. In the evening, we opened our windows and could hear the waves crashing on the beach. It was so peaceful! Had I paid th rack rate , I might be more critical. But securing a double room with village view, which still looked out at the beach for less than half that, this can't be beat. There is convenient parking, the rooms are old and somewhat worn, but clean and livable. This place needs some updates, but for the price it is OK.

I was visiting a friend in Laguna Beach, CA this past weekend. She lives about 4 blocks from the hotel so it was very convienient to her tiny condo. I only planned to sleep and shower at the hotel so I wasn't expecting much. The view was great and the location was awesome. The noise level outside on Friday and Saturday night left me thinking that the […] hotel should invest in some newer windows (with screens). The room also shook a little bit. I think it was from the ceiling fan (mine and maybe my downstairs neighbor's fan too). My last complaint was the shower. The shower head was really low (I'm 5' 6''). I had to stoop to rinse my hair or wash my face. I also had to listen for a loud banging noise to indicate that I was going to get scolded by the hot water if I didn't move right after the noise happened (about 3 or 4 times each minute). I do not recommend having small children in this hotel because of possible burns from the shower. Otherwise, my stay was very nice. The staff was nice. The location was great. The private beach was nice. I didn't take advfantage of the restaraunt or the happy hour but I'm sure it would have been splendid as well. Laguna is a great place to visit. I was very satisfied with this hotel. It was neat, clean, and in good condition. The staff were friendly, quick to respond, and helpful. It is a special hotel right on the beach with several great restaurants across the street.

This is the cheapest hotel in the area, and we weren't playing on being in the room much. If this is the case, it was good for the money and its in a great location. There could have been a couple small improvements that would have made a big difference. The main one was that the towels were so old they were falling apart. Its an older hotel but has quaint personality. Nice fireplace room in the bar. Right on the ocean with its own private beach. Walking distance to everything. Everyone had a great attitude and was very helpful in suggestions of what to do.

Great room with ocean views, the rooms are being remodeled. The hotel is right on the beach and in the center of town. We will be back.

A wonderful hotel with rich history on one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Charming hotel with wonderful and friendly staff. Location is on Main Beach and steps from the village in Laguna Beach, CA. Perfect for a romantic get-a-way! I will be returning soon. Thank you for a perfect weekend.

Stains/rips on the beadspread, balls of dust on the bathroom shelf, stopped-up sink, cracked pedastal, etc. A great hotel in a great location is being neglected and abused. Until someone pours some money into the place to fix it up we'll be staying elsewhere when we visit Laguna.

I had read all the other reviews. Most of them were accurate, therefore, I knew what I was in for. Rooms are older. If I were staying for more than one night and being directly on the beach (we couldn't find any hotel access to the beach, we had to walk outside and around the corner) isn't desired I probably wouldn't stay there again. In the photos the hotel looks very nice. The location was good, but once you get in the hotel it was in horrible condition, I thought being an older hotel it would have some charm, not so... The ceilings were badly stained with water damage, and everything was very out dated. The restaurant is extremely over priced for the quality of food and service […] you get. great location, cant be beat. hotel is a bit worn and it seems the staff has given up trying to deal with issues that come with age, being on the beach etc... But all in all still awesome- one of a kind

The location is FABULOUS if you want to swim, suntan, shop, dine and enjoy the nightlife in the heart of Laguna Beach. The hotel has a very nice restaurant, traditional hotel bar, and desirable outdoor dining along the beach. My actual room was a Garden Ocean which means I could see the ocean just beyond the central courtyard and adjacent parking lot. Sadly, the room felt SMALL, CRAMPED, OUTDATED and perhaps even LESS THAN CLEAN. I avoided the bathroom as much as possible. The resorts on the south side of town are luxurious, but beyond my preferred spending. More importantly, I like to be within a steps of all the action.
