This hotel was on a prime location near the main street "Royal Mile" in Edinburgh's old town. The room was clean and had a great view towards Cowgate. The only minus was that the free wi-fi never worked. The reception staff restarted the router many times but without success. The only place where you could use the wi-fi without a hitch was in the hotel […] lobby. The breakfast at the hotel was OK with everything from scrambled eggs to yoghurt and müsli. The only thing that I personally would've liked to see that the breakfast buffé included a bigger variety of breads and cheese/ham/vegetables to go with that. Kiva moderni hotelli, mukava ja tarpeeksi lämmin huone, hyvät peruspalvelut (vastaanotto, aamiainen, matkatavaroiden säilytys, jne.). Huone oli tilavahko, vaikka vuodesohva oli käytössä, mahduimme silti oleilemaan siellä siedettävästi. Aamiainen oli parempi kuin odotimme. Palvelu ystävällistä ja hyvää. The entire staff---from Front Desk to Food---were exceptionally courteous and very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone---regardless of Income Level.

This hotel is located in a great location, right around the corner of the Royal Mile and it is a great deal as it includes breakfast. The staff was very helpful with all our requirements.

Excelente atención, everyone was willing to attend us... very kind and professional. They let us have breakfast even before time, printed all the information we needed and told us how to get to every single place we wanted.

Lovely hotel, close to the shopping streets (10 mins slow walk) but not on the main street so roads quiet on a night. standard breakfast with a little choice to choose from.

Wonderfully friendly staff, absolutely perfect location!!! Breakfast was arranged for us at 4 the morning we had to leave. I could not quite believe it would be possible to get such marvellous accomodation at such a reasonable price - very strongly recommended!!!

Stayed for one night and cannot fault the hotel. Room was clean and modern. Great choice for breakfast - covers everyone. Central location was great and just a few minutes away from the Royal Mile. Maybe a bit further from Princes Street but was nice and quiet. Great value for money and we would definately return.

can not compare with the luxury ones, but I went for the location and it is best in this regard!

General appearance of the hotel was immaculate and clean. Bedroom comfortable and adequate. Bathroom was immaculate. Very central for most attractions and within short walking distances.

The hotel is the cleanist I have ever stayed in. The breakfast was terrific and staff very helpful. Our only issue was with the car - no hotel parking and the parking station nearby was 20pounds per 24hours. I would not recommend taking a car to Edinburgh as road works limit access to many areas and parking officers are everywhere and very vigilant […] - we got 2 in 3 days as the 'use mobile phone' way of paying for parking is cumbersome and inaccurate. What a great place to stay. Clean and large rooms, great staff and good breakfast.

Breakfast bad Starts at 7.30 so u miss hot breakfast if u have to do some tour Location is not far from centre but area is cow gate which is the worst in edinburgh &is secluded at night Staff is polite & welcoming so no complaints about that All of them were v sweet

Nice hotel in good location which allowed access for our dog.

PROS: Clean and comfortable room, very friendly staff, mostly quiet (which is difficult to find around the Royal Mile and the city center), and I thought the breakfast was decent enough. CONS: Wifi service doesn't work outside the lobby and it doesn't even work well there. It's not obvious where it is and if you're walking from the train, you have to […] walk uphill to High Street and then back downhill again for Cowgate. But that's the part of the reason it's quiet. Overall the location and quality of the Holiday Inn Express on Cowgate in Edinburgh was highly satisfactory. The only two complaints we had was the difficulty in finding parking and and heating unit in our room was really noisy so I didn't get a good night's sleep. I would stay in this hotel again.

I was very happy. At least for the season I was there, my room (location, comfort, cleanliness), the service, the breakfast and the location of the hotel.

Lovely time with my girlfriends for my special birthday weekend. Less than 1 minutes walk to the Royal Mile. Very close to shops and restaurants Room was very clean and hotel in a quiet location. Lovely breakfast and we were able to leave our luggage there after we had checked out, and pick up later on in the day.

Stayed for 4 nights. The hotel was very clean and welcoming staff went out of their way to help with everything. Excellent location to see the sights. There was a good choice of fruit, cereals etc. for breakfast. Scrambled egg and small sausages served everyday were fine would be nice to perhaps have some bacon or maybe boiled eggs for a change. I stayed in this hotel for two nights in October. The location was ideal, within two minutes walking distance from The royal mile, 10 minutes to the Castle. Some excellent small restaurants nearby. The room we stayed in here had a double bed and a sofa double bed. The double was absolutely fine, but the sofa bed was hard at the sides and collapsed in the middle and was not pleasant to sleep on. Breakfasts were pretty dire. I think everything was tinned or came in small packets, the apple juice was so sickly sweet as to be undrinkable, and the […] tables could have done with more regular cleaning, but the tea and toast were fine. From a young family perspective, (4 & 1 yo), the toilets are poorly thought out. The soaps are in dispensers which are fixed to the wall at a height no youngish child will be able to reach, probably 4.5 ft, with nothing that they can stand on to help reach the sink (apart from the bin, which would need to be more stable to make a permanent step). Once the sofa bed's out (and it is when you arrive) you're going to be very limited on luggage space in the rest of the room - we ended up shoving the sofa bed up against the main bed in case the baby fell out, but that also worked for allowing suitcases to be put out on the floor. However, with the sofa bed as a sofa, the space should be fine for 2. If you're parking, get a space in the street overnight. I put the car in the nearby garage overnight the first night and came back to a large bill (including 10% discount) the next morning. I think it's a pound an hour or similar and we'd parked from just before 7pm to after 11am. Street parking is free between 1830-0830 and we didn't have a problem getting spaces in the street within direct sight of the hotel For a place to spend a night for 1/2 people, the HIExpress is absolutely fine. I'd go to the nearby pub for their breakfast next time though - it's got to be better and was pretty cheap. Lisätietoja

Nice hotel with friendly helpful staff and good range of food for breakfast. Room was large, had excellent shower and really comfortable bed. Would definitely recommend although a little out of main city but not too far.
