Pacific Edge Hotel on Laguna Beach, a Joie de Vivre Hotel - Laguna Beach

This was far too expensive for what we were given. Our room faced a noisy pool area. Every little amenity came at a cost, including parking. This was hotel 6 at a hyatt price.

I was very dissappointed in the room itself. I realized staying close to the water in Laguna Beach will be pricey, but for the money I paid, the room was just awful. I won't be staying there again.

We loved our stay. Had a king suite overlooking the ocean. The hospitality of staff and upkeep of the property was terrific. We will definitly come back!

We spent 6 days at the hotel and found the location unbeatable.All the shops and restaurants were within walking distance. Board rentals a block away.We loved the Orange Inn for breakfast.Would like to see the pool areas updated and the deck chairs refinished or replaced. Both were unsightly. What a lovely surprise! We stayed longer than we planned.

The Hotel room we were originaly given was tiny and outdated.. My husband and I and our 2 children just looked at it in shock. I then called the front desk and they let us know shortly that they could up- grade us into a larger room for a little extra a night. The larger room was much more spacious thank goodness but the kids had to use a very uncomfortable […] sofa pull-out. Our bed was comfortable but all of the furniture very outdated. If you come to this hotel make sure and ask for an updated room and remember pictures can be deceiving online! We had a great room steps from the sand. We were able to listen to the waves all night and watch the sunsets. The 2 resturants right there are great and downtown Laguna is all right there. We will be back!

Staff went above and beyond at every turn! So refreshing to be treated like royalty at every moment! Fantastic location, will stay again!

Great location and view from our ocean front room. Price worth it for the view, hotel slightly aged but clean.

Very dated hotel. Challenging front desk staff. We made reservation for 3 people in a 4 person room through Hotels.com. We were then charged additional for the third person (child) upon arrival. We were given a room only to have them jack hammer the pool in front of our room the next day. They then moved us to 2nd room, only to also book another party […] in the room. After sorting out this confusion, the other folks were given their own room, our keys were reset and we needed new keys. Not much of a vacation. No pool, no functioning hot tub. Charming lobby and overall idea of the hotel but falls way below when you see that it was an old apt bldg and the elevators are old and dirty. We had a studio unit which had a nice kitchen, but no plates, pots, etc. I worked at a resort and was responsible for insuring that the kitchen units had the basics, it's not that expensive to supply the basics […] in those units. They didn't even have a can opener. I don't know anyone who would stay for a weekend and bring a pot/can opener/cookie sheet, etc. Too expensive to not go a little further. The room was "cute" and bright, but cheap, chipped furniture and no curtain in the bathroom/kitchen which made it really cold! They talked up the "fireplace" and we were excited until we walked in and realized it was a fireplace built into an old wall and painted over. We arrived late in the evening and I was grateful for hotel valet-worth the $20. Water was at the edge of our hotel & we watched surfers & seals splashing about as we ate breakfast on the balcony of the hotel resturaunt. Percentage off bill at resturaunt if you show you stayed at the hotel. We were there in the off season, but stores were open and the […] area still offered plenty of things to do... ex-drums on the beach at night, comedians, live music. Lots to do in the area if you look for it. Beautiful beaches very close together, you can't take a bad picture. Hotel was obviously older but very well kept up. Great location, right on the beach. The lobby is nice but an overwhelming scent of vanilla. If you are sensitive to strong scents, you would not like this hotel. My only disappointments would be that the elevator to the room was broken and I had to carry many bags up & down the stairs. Although valet / maintenance did offer help, it was still a hassle. […] The pool also lacked towels so I had to remember to bring a towel from the room. I loved my walk to the Laguna Coffee Shop via the beach which was very nice. Used my smart phone for walking directions. The shampoo, conditioner & body soap the hotel provides is very nice too...good quality, bamboo lemongrass. My room was like a teenagers room- bright colors but it was relaxing and felt like a bedroom, not a living room. It was double beds and not much room to walk around- kinda small but ok for two people. Also, could hear the conversation of the couple next door so the walls are pretty thin...not much privacy. There was only valet parking, no self park. So bring extra cash for tips. Overall, I would stay here again for the right price. A nice place right on the beach. Our room was on the pool side, but so convenient to everything and a great ocean side deck next door for apps, drinks, etc...right on the cliff with awesome view of Catalina Island. Room was small but really didn't need much else. Clean, cute beach decor and comfy beds!! Only down side was $20/day for parking + tipping […] every time the valet got the car for us. I stayed here for a "mommy and me" trip with my 9 year old son. We loved the hotel! The staff was super friendly, very helpful, and made us feel at home there- and in Laguna Beach. The location is fabulous and walking distance to anywhere...the beach access and restaurants were amazing!

We stayed one night, the room was fine. What wasn't so fine was at checkout to be charged an additional $20 for mandatory valet parking -- a surprise to us. Also, when I called from the room to have our car ready at checkout (as suggested in the paper we received at check in), the car was there all right; my husband loaded our car while I went inside […] to check out. You'd think they would have either left the keys with our bill or in the car -- no, they didn't! About an hour later, I realized I didn't have the keys we'd left with the valet; just my husband's set -- which meant we had to backtrack to get our keys. It seems this hotel may want to invest in some communication classes for its employees. But now you know, so just be aware. Like I said, the room was fine and the hot tub was a welcomed amenity. Ocean front property with great views of the beach. Valet was expensive at 20 dollars per night. Not really sure why guests are not allowed to park there own vehicles in the very accessible parking garage beneath the hotel. I chose this hotel based on some prior reviews and the pictures on the web site. What we thought we were getting vs what we received was truely a let down. Our room was not located on the beach as illustated on the payment page. Instead, we received much less of a room, or should i say an efficiency located a block up the street. Our room had stains […] on the carpet. The heat did not work. The maintenece person explained that the heating problem was a known issue, so the fix was to place space heaters in the room. That worked until it got really hot then we had to shut them on and off to regulate the temperature. What a pain... If you plan on getting a good night sleep then dont bother with this place. We were kept up all night by the room next to us and the noise from people lurking in the street. If you eat at any of their restaraunts then plan on being insulted. We had stopped by after being at the beach to make a reservation and the host says to us "really?? Well, i dont know let me see.. Well, i guess.. You may have to wait an hr or so.. I'll try to squeeze you in for 7 pm" Im like hey if its a problem we can go elsewhere? So, we gave the guy the benefit of the doubt and returned for dinner at 7. Upon or arrival we were seated at the bar and handed one of those tacky buzzers. I just had to laugh.. Needless to say they forgot about us and we ended up leaving. Out of all that had happened they should have offered to credit our room, but instead they gave us a $50 food credit to be used in their restaraunt. We stayed at the Pacific Edge for the weekend. The hotel has the appearance of being built in the 60's however, the corporation that bought the hotel did their best to spruce it up. Saying that, we had numerous electrical problems with our room. Our TV went out twice and we blew a fuse just with the hairdryer and iron on. The hotel was extremely nice […] and upgraded our room. The location of the hotel is awesome! Literally on the beach and you fall asleep listening to crashing waves. And you are walking distances to all the shops and restaurants in Laguna Beach. The restaurant is absolutely delicious and the bar manager comps our drinks because of our electrically problems. I would definitely come back here again. Lisätietoja

Repeated emails to this hotel regarding the reservation have yielded no response, they look good on the surface but there is little regard for clients or a problem with customer engagement underneath.

We booked a last minute weekend trip and we landed on this hotel online.. We are so happy we did! even tho it is older it is clean and welcoming. The rooms are charming and the location is out of this world!!! not only do the waves crash just below your balcony, everythin is within walking distance! The room was very small and not very clean. There was a ton of mold all over the tile tub walls and up the side of the tub. There was no counter space in the restroom for any personal items. The bath towels were a grungy off white and very ruff. For the money paid for the room I expected a little more, but i do understand you pay for the location not […] the hotel but it could have at lest been clean. When i complained to staff they used the excuse the hotel was old, but there is no reason for a ton of mold in the restroom. My family and I did not even shower in the am because of the mold. the hotel was nothing like it was in the pictures, the paint in the room was old as well as the outdated carpet, tv, and nightstand. The ocean and downtown are steps away from the hotel. Good location and clean room.

Really is on the beach. Valet is 20 tacked onto your bill, no other overnight parking available. Nice to hear the ocean waves at night, but you can also hear everyone coming and going, so if you are a light sleeper, it might be a problem. Definitely going back however, as they take dogs (LARGE) with no pet fee!

Although the hotel is an older building, they do everything they can to make the stay there very memorable. We had a room on the beach, and felt like we were in heaven. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We hope to go back.

I should have listened to all of you who gave this place a "thumbs down" rating. The staff is clueless, the rooms are dirty, and stinky. A totally gross experience. We travel a lot, and I would rank this place near the bottom of all places I have been. Please read all of the negative reviews (they are true) and ignore the good reviews. The only postive […] was the ocean front room view and the sounds of the waves crashing at night ... thank mother nature for that. But, the balcony gave us no privacy from our neighboring rooms, they could look right into our room and bed... couldn't even have an intimate moment unless we totally closed our blinds (making the room totally dark). the room had a speed bump in the middle of it. They charge you 20 dollars for valet (which I don't mind), but then you have to drive your car to the valet.

We had a great stay at the Pacific edge. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When they say they are right on the beach they mean it! And we were walking distace to lots of shops and restaurants! It was a great stay and would defintely book there again!

The hotel was beautiful. Location incredible. Restaurants perfect. The only issue we had all weekend was the room seemed a bit dirty. The bathroom wasnt that clean and there was a leftover brush on a chair in the room. It was a lil gross. We had a kitchen in our room but no pots or pans so it wasnt like we could cook. What else do you need? Got a deal on an ocean front room which, at full price, might not be what you would expect, but it was perfectly adequate and you couldn't get any closer to the water.

The hotel is perfect for a quick get away - even if you live in orange county like myself - nothing says luxury more than falling asleep to the soft sound of waves crashing below your hotel room sliding glass door. It was wonderful.

Looks can be deceiving and a quick look from the street and you may not think much of the Pacific Edge Hotel. And honestly, the physical buildibg itself itsnt much to look at. But once you enter your room, absorb the brightly colored walls and furniture and look out the large sliding glass door on to the beautiful Pacific Ocean, any worries about what […] the building looks like go out the window...somewhat literally! My room wasn't beach-front, it was beach-ON...waves crashing on the rocks below my balcony. Gorgeous sunsets over Catalina off the balcony...and 'roll out of bed access' to the sand for an early morning stroll down the beach to start the day.
