Koska Reykjavik on pieni hotellin ei välttämättä tarvitsisi sijaita aivan keskustassa. Varsinkin jos osallistuu järjestetyille päiväreissuille siihen yleensä kuuluu nouto ovelta, joten senkään takia ei tarvitse asua aivan ydinkeskustassa. Hotellin hintaan ja laatuun voisi hyvin asua hieman kauempaa. Huone oli suhteellisen pieni ja aamupala hyvä.

The hotel was clean and friendly but the room was quite small and not enough room for all our things. It was good to be central but it was extremely noisy from about 9pm especially on the Friday night. Breakfast was ordinary buffet breakfast. The hotel doesn't have any lobby as such on the ground floor and we felt that having a couple of chairs downstairs […] would be good especially when waiting to be picked up for trips. it would have been nice to have a hotel where we could sit in a bar or lounge generally. This was a great hotel, staff very friendly and great location. The surrounding area can be a little noisy at the weekend but we were on top floor and it didn't keep us awake. Breakfast great. Excellent value and we would stay at this hotel again.

Yes, it is wonderful hotel, perfect location, clean and no any funny smell in the room. The only thing needs to improve is the breakfast buffet, it is too simple right now.

Loved the breakfast and the location. Rooms are not as updated as some but very clean. Liked the large closet and tea maker within the room. Would definitely stay here again.

Very close to the shopping areas and restaurants, the staff were very helpful and the rooms small but very nice. The only problem with this hotel is the bars and clubs that are near by and can be noisy if you do not go out in the evenings untill 2am. The local tour depot and harbour is only a 5 minute walk. Overall a great stay.

This was a really good value for money hotel. I would describe it as basic but for the money I paid I was more than happy with my stay. Close to the shopping district and within walking distance of all the sights. We took a couple of tours with greyline which will pick you up from this hotel which was a huge bonus! I was pleased I booked this hotel. The price, location couldn’t have been more ideal. It’s located on the main streets for shopping, bars, a short walk from the harbour & city sites. The staff were really friendly & conscientious. They were on hand to arrange tours, airport transfers and were always smiling. The hotel is neat, very clean & warm. The […] room was compact, had everything I needed: a wardrobe, draws, iron, ironing board, TV, laundry facilities, mini bar & refreshments of tea/coffee. Bathroom was well appointed, no bath, but shower was powerful. It has shower gel/shampoo from a dispenser in shower and at sink. For ladies I would say to bring your own shampoo&conditioner. There is a powerful hairdryer so no need to prepack one. The bed was the most comfy bed that I’ve ever slept in, had a feather duvet & pillows. In Iceland they tend to supply two single duvets for a double bed so couples have one each. Breakfast is served from 7-10am, not amazing, there are fruit, cold meats & sliced cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, fish, cereals and a selection of bread for toast. Drinks consist of OJ, apple juice, teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Downside with hotel was the nightclub. I stayed on a Fri & Sat night, only I heard the noise on the Sat, between 1-3am. I would defiantly stay at this hotel again, would recommend it, as it was good value for money, immaculate, clean, with good facilities. The bed was comfy. The Hotel was affordable, comfortable and offered everything that a DIY-traveler needs. Not too fancy, but everything done with a professional attitude.Definitely one of the best experiences. The TV:s are out of date, but we didn't have time to watch anyway.

The location of the hotel could not be more convenient, being located on the quiet main street in Reykjavik with everything within walking distance in a matter of minutes. Location is great, staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a large corner room with great view of the streets; the only drawback was high level of street noises at night - we partly solved the problem by closing the windows, which made the room a bit warm but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Excellent central location, good breakfast - BUT steep stone steps up from street which we were not advised of and my 77yr old sister is disabled so this was a bit of a problem. Also the room we were allocated 408 was atrocious -no space whatsoever, the rating of 4* was farcical. We arrived on a Friday night and needed to fly out early Saturday morning. But the noice from a nearby bar made it very difficult to sleep. Otherwise an ok budget hotel, but we are puzzled by the four stars.

This hotel cannot possibly be a 4 star - that is extremely inaccurate and misleading. The room was like a college dorm room with minimal - uncomfortable furniture and beds. The linens did not even look fresh and I suspect they were not. The carpeting was worn and soiled, the hallway carpeting was torn in places, soiled in many many areas, and worn. […] The bathroom had very thin, sorry looking towels, a liquid soap dispenser that did not work (with no bar soap available). We immediately visited the CenterHotel Plaza a short distance away, and requested we be transferred to that hotel - which upon entering - we clearly saw was a great improvement over the CenterHotel Skjaldbreid. Fortunately, the Plaza staff did accomodate us by allowing us to move hotels and we were extremely grateful. The CenterHotel Plaza (rated a 3 star hotel) was cleaner, larger and to our satisfaction. We DO NOT recommend the CenterHotel Skjaldbreid under any circumstance. The 4 star rating must be downgraded - 2 star at best. Lisätietoja

After spending a week in cintinental Europe, this was the largest room we'd seen on our trip, and very welcome space to spread out. Very nice room and hotel in the heart of the shopping area of Reykjavik. We would definately stay here again

Things did not work out on this vacation... Here for 3 days, and *everything* I scheduled (tours, activities) got cancelled at the last minute. The first several were due to weather, understandable. The last was due to illness of one of the people in the tour company, also would be understandable, except for all the incorrect information the receptionist […] conveyed. Apparently the company called at 8:00 AM to try to inform me. The receptionist never put the call through--she said she did, but I was in the room the whole time. Then when I stopped by the reception desk to confirm the tour, she said that the company had called and confirmed and should wait downstairs at 9:30 AM. At 9:15 AM, it turns out the owners of the company came personally to tell me that the tour was cancelled and they had tried to get a hold of me. I said I never received the call, that the receptionist told me that they had confirmed, and that I should wait downstairs at 9:30 AM. The receptionist then denied everything. By this time it was too late to schedule any other tours with another company. Entire trip was a complete bust. The hotel itself is clean, and very well-situated. Good breakfast, free internet. Smallish room although upgraded to superior. Had a problem with tv which I had to call the manager about every single day. Apart from this it was an excellent location and comfortable. Convenient for day trips.

Lovely small hotel right on the main shopping street which has both advantages and disadvantages. There are about 3 steps up to get in and then a stone internal set of about 6 steps to get upto the lift. So cases must be carried. The advantage to being on the main street is that you are in the middle of all the action and it does not take long to get […] your bearings. The bad news is that unless you are a party animal on Friday and Saturday nights the party on the streets continues until well after 4am and you will be able to hear it all. The hotel offers a great central location but be aware that the summer nightclub scene spills onto the street in front and lasts until about 2am on weekdays and 5am on weekends (double pane windows help curb the noise). That said, you certainly feel part of Reykjavik when you stay here, and the accomodations are tidy and the staff is helpful.

Overall, quite good but room small and bathroom not good with a sliding glass door between toilet and bed, meaning if it was flushed in the night there was no sound proofing. Sink was outside in the room??. Why not build a normal bathroom?? Sofa under TV meaning you couldn't sit on it to watch TV!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on arrival in a "superior room" and one night before departure in a "standard room." Desk staff people were great, and breakfast in the solarium-style breakfast room was pleasant. Both rooms were generally clean, comfortable and very acceptable by Icelandic standards but not at all fancy. Probably only the corner […] rooms look like the photos on the internet. Standard rooms are very small. You have to figure out where on the floor you can fit your suitcases and still get in the closet and bathroom. Bathrooms are much nicer in the superior room (ours had a tub with shower and window--and dirty shower curtain) but adequate in the standard room (similar to a cheap motel). The hotel is on a walking street, and you can't get a flybus drop-off or pick up right out front if that matters to you. You must be able to walk a few blocks and up a few steps to get in. There is a lot of pub noise at night, but that seems to be typical in Reykjavik near or on any weekend in most hotels. I hope this doesn't sound too negative. I liked the hotel, was comfortable there and would stay there again. It's friendly and well-located for shopping, eating, going to the harbor or to Harpa. Lisätietoja

The location of this hotel can't be beat. It was near lots of restaurants/bars, shopping, and entertainment. The staff was incredible, super friendly, helpful and they more than willingly confirmed our travel plans with all our tours/transfers/reservations.
