The Mad Hatter Hotel - Lontoo

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Waterloo underground station. About a 20 minute walk to London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. The staff was friendly and the restaurant connected to it was good and affordable. Room was a bit small by American standards, but quite roomy by European standards.

was a present for my gf. At first we went in, I was worried as it didn't seem very nice. Also the first impression of the staff wasn't great. But then after a few min and few contacts with them, they were actually really friendly and helpful. The room was small enough but that didn't matter really. It was nice and clean, bed was comfy, good tv, bathroom […] was very clean and had nice shampoo, conditioner and others. Lovely room, very clean and comfortable, a bit hot during the night and the TV was too small to see from the bed, but had a lovely stay, would use again. Great Pub underneath!

Size of room is reasonable, at least there's still space after u opened the luggage. Washroom is very tidy. Lift is available on every floor. It's only 5-10 minutes walk from the closest tube station-Southwark. London Eye is only within 15 minutes walking distance. It's an overall above average hotel in London downtown.

The Madhatter Hotel, London, looks stunning from the front with flowering window boxes, tiled flooring. The bar is spacious and clean. The double room was spotless and spacious. stayed here for one night whilst attending a concert at the o2 staff really helpful lovely rooms got back late and night porter opened bar to get us a couple of drinks excellent service would stay again

I stayed at the Mad Hatter as I was in London for business purposes. I found the hotel clean, comfortable with the softest largest bed and duvet I have slept in, in my life! It had the personal touch that some of the bigger hotels are lacking. Its the little things that make a difference and I found that the tea/coffee making facilities in the room […] were varied and all of brand name quality with nice biscuits and freebies in the bathroom including a manicure kit! The only thing I will say as a criticism was the evening meal, I had fish and chips and it was very dry and I couldn't finish it. However I did go and eat about an hour before the kitchen closed and the pub was packed so these could have contributed to this. Excellent choice for an overnight / weekend stay. Near Waterloo Station, South Bank, etc. Everything spotless, staff friendly and helpful, room okay, although bed wasn't that comfortable and - it being a Friday night when we were there - it was a bit noisy, 'tho not unduly so.

For the price, this hotel was great! It's very close to the tube and walking distance from the riverside. Most of the staff was friendly and accommodating with one or two minor exceptions. The beds are a bit lumpy but still fairly comfortable. There is a decent pub attached if you don't want to go out but there are much better if you go looking. Hotel was clean and well presented and my room was comfortable. However I decided to stay and eat dinner in the bar. Menu was standard pub food and reasonably cooked apart from the accompanying salad which was definitely showing its age...I left it. We wanted to stay in an English hotel that was convenient to our son's location at the LSE dorm. This turned out to be a great choice, and I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room as well as how quiet it was. The room we stayed in had 2 twin beds, and was spacious for the 2 night stay. We were located within walking distance to everything we wanted to see .. the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Westminister, London Bridge, Parliament, etc. If you are only staying for a couple nights this is a great hotel to stay at!

Clean comfortable room with a good new flat screen television, tea/coffee making facilities and clean bathroom with a decent shower. A good location and very good value for money for a central London location

I arrived early on a Sunday morning, my flight had arrived at 630 and it was about 830-900AM by the time I arrived at the Mad Hatter. Despite being several hours early for check-in, they found me a room. That made a very jet-lagged person quite happy, let me tell you. Also, I needed an iron and ironing board and had one up in my room within about 5 […] minutes of asking. There's a pub on-site with decent enough food and a good selection of beers. It is, I believe 24 hours for hotel residents, which is quite convenient. Easy walks to most of the sights on the south side of the Thames. Bit of a trek to Waterloo station, but not unreasonable. The only complaint I had was that the desk chair didn't have a back on it. I had to do about 6 hours of work while I was at the hotel, and I found it easier to sit in bed with my back braced against the wall than to sit on the work stool. Lisätietoja

London hotels are expensive. I needed something close to the National Theatre & Tate Modern and the Mad Hatter fit the bill. Very helpful staff. Pub down below with good food. Bed was a little lumpy but the bath was nice and the room was big. My room was on the street and a little noisy. Long walk to Waterloo which is a huge station with 3 tube lines. […] I could walk to the National and the Tate though, which were my main destinations this trip. This hotel is a mix of a nice pub and hotel. We warmed to it immediately and all started off very well. Very polite and helpful Reception staff in particular. We returned to have our evening meal there after a long day walking round London in bitter cold - that was the disappoinment. The red wine was chilled and the food was luke warm. Afraid we were […] too hungry at the time to return it - the quality of the food was otherwise "good pub fayre". Breakfast was quite good but on a "first come will eat" basis. Great location as direct bus route from Kings Cross Station and within walking distance of everything we had planned to do - including the Barbican.

Wish it wasn't so far from Waterloo Station, but that can't really be helped. And all the construction going on is a bit distracting (bit of an eyesore really) but again, that's not the hotel's fault. The online map was a bit deceiving, it is much closer to route A201. Upon arriving at the hotel everything was quite nice. Large flat-screen TV and hot […] water pot were pluses to pass the time. Only reservation was that the shower head didn't work. However that was nothing that couldn't be remedied with common sense (filling up the bath tub instead for washing). As I was in a hurry I couldn't wait for the front desk or someone to fix it. We loved our one-night stay at The Mad Hatter. Read the other reviews, especially the negative ones, but I'm glad we ignored them and stayed anyway. It's a bargain, staff very friendly, clean room and so near to Tate Modern and St Pauls Cathedral. They even had my favourite Peppermint Tea already in the room as a complimentary drink! I would definitely consider staying at the Mad Hatter again should I have need to return to London in the future. The location is convenient: a five minute walk away from the Southwark underground station. Central to a number of landmarks: London Bridge, the London Eye, The Globe Theatre and other attractions are all within 15-20 minutes walking distance. My only complaint is that the hotel is located on a fairly busy street, so there's a bit of sound from the traffic coming through at night. Light sleepers may have a bit of trouble dozing off. Bedding smelled like B.O., bathroom smelled like mildew. In the morning I woke up with the impressions of each mattress spring on my body. Had a nice view of the ally with dumpsters. No A/C

The hotel is sweet and i liked the "Britishness" and "old fashionnes" of it. The room was large with plenty of light. It was very hot however in July of 2010 with no air conditioning. Luckily we had a fan in the room which helped provide some relief. The hotel is at a convenient location by south bank, the London eye, Tourist bus stop, waterloo train/metro […] station. Well situated, very nice room with comfortable bed and clean and spacious bath room. Free wi-fi. No a/c, but air fan kept room cool. Restaurant/bar kept in old style. Food okay, but breakfast was boring (cold eggs etc.).

5 to 10 mins walk to the tube station not that bad... but without air conditioner so its not the best choice to stay in summer

This hotel was great. Perfect location - close to underground. Staff was wonderful. Room was cute. I had the 1st floor room overlooking road and surprised how much I did not hear (cars, buses, etc.). The only issue I had was the bed. I could feel the springs in the bed. Once they get a new mattress, I say almost perfect stay.

The reception and bar staff were very nice and friendly, and they explained all the bells and whistles on check in. The air-con in the room didn't work but that was no problem, it's better for the environment to not use it :) A must have is the 'Mad Hatter Pie' at the pub/restaurant. Very good quality All in all a nice experience, thank you!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are clean, very roomy for central London, the bathrooms clean, and TV very good! The price is very reasonable for what you get in central London. Although the immediate neighbourhood isn't picturesque, the hotel's within easy walking distance of South Bank concert halls/theatres, and at least a couple of tube […] stations, and although St Paul's Cathedral & Westminster are a little bit further, they're still withing walking distance. The Mad Hatter is a great hotel, perfectly located, close to the Waterloo station (Trains and Underground). The staff we very friendly and helpful, even allowing us to leave a couple bags as we left for a few days in the Cotswolds. The staff was so helpful with restaurant recomendations, directions, taxi's. The rooms were squeeky clean. The attached bar/restaurant bar is awesome. I would stay here again.

We picked this hotel based on other hotel.com reviews and we were not disappointed. The location was perfect, close to a Underground station and located between many tourist attractions. However, if flying in from Heathrow, know that the price of a taxi will run about 80 pounds. That aside the rooms were nice sized and very clean.
