Grand Canyon Railway Hotel - Williams

Very convenient to jump on the train to the Canyon.

Nice enough. Indoor pool was fun for the kids, but nothing special. The town was cute, but small and not much to do. Next time I would stay inside the grand canyon, or just outside. Not much to the fitness center, not even a treadmill.

Decent place, but I think if you are not taking the train you could stay at a cool place right on old Route 66 a couple of blocks away and be closer to cool shops, cafes, etc.

Excellent hotel. Lovely fire in lobby very welcoming. The rooms were very clean, kids loved the heated indoor pool, plenty of parking,nice and quite.

We booked this hotel the night at a rate three times more expensive than other local, reputable hotels SPECIFICALLY because a heated indoor poor with jacuzzi. We got there and the pool was 'under maintenance' and closed. This was not disclosed when we made our reservation. I get it, but try telling that to my 8 year old son that packed his swimsuit […] and goggles. To help compensate for our disappointment, the Manager offered free breakfast for the three of us at the Cafe - which was a nice gesture and the best we could ask for since the room was prepaid. Otherwise, the hotel is great if you're in town to ride the train to the canyon. Route 66 was walking distance and lots of fun - great picture taking. Lisätietoja

Really nice place to stay. I had such different expectations and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the place was and how fabulous the staff were.

The hotel is fine, not luxury but clean and well kept. The kids loved the whole experience with the Polar Express Train and Santa.

good quiet location, right across the street from train station, close to restaurant, and downtown within walking distance. Very nice pub inside hotel.

After our room was cleaned we came back to sheets that had stains in them. Was disgusting. The lobby and bar was very cool. Just gross maid service.

Pleasantly surprised by the hotel and it's neigborhood. It appears to be newly refurbished. A good choice and value if you are visiting the Grand Canyon but can't get closer accomodations. Town of Williams is small but quaint on Route 66.

Hotel is rebuilding and they remain open, which means construction AND painting is going on around your room starting by 7.00 am. So reception looks nice, but be aware after that!. Service sucks, made remark on construction, but got not really any normal response on it!.

Hotel is fine. The only issue has been well documented elsewhere as far as the brown water situation. This appears to be city wide and the hotel is not to blame. They provide free bottled water for drinking purposes. The brown water will not harm you, it's just the look of it that could throw you off. We had no problems and it's really the best place […] for the price anywhere close to the Grand Canyon. Nice but overpriced

The hotel is convenently located but a bit expensive for what it offers. Very basic rooms, very hectic when trains from Grand Canyon arrive .

Hotel is conveniently located. Rooms are functional and Williams is a great town to stay in

The hotel was not as close as we thought to the Grand Canypn. About 1 hour away. Currently undergoing renovations. Only issue with room was the shower curtain was old and dirty. Looked like the room was updated but someone forgot to change out the shower curtain. Also inner rooms we confusing to find at first.

The hotel complex (Restaurant, Railway Gift Store & Hotel) gives you plenty of things to do with your spare time without getting in your car. Very close to the town's shops and tourist sites around Williams as well (Hotel & Restaurant are located in about the center of town). We utilized the Railway RV park's laundry (very handy) too. The food was very […] good with a large selection of various foods (buffet style for variety). Friendly staff (especially in the restaurant). We look forward to staying here in the future. The hotel was just "okay". Hotel construction made things more difficult. Parking was a pain, too far away. Also, the accompanying hotel restaurant was way over priced. Save yourself some money and take a short walk into the old town. Try the Pine Country Restaurant for better food and service.

Nice hotel, however the bathroom smelled musty and the water pressure was very low. The water was brown and when I asked about it they said the city was having a problem with the water and it was high in iron. The location was very convenient, being right next to the railway station. The hotel staff was friendly and I enjoyed my short stay.

The rooms were clean and the people were nice. The buffet was good also. We liked the little performance before the train ride (we did not take the train ride to the Canyon). The water was brown. The front desk said it had to do with the time of year and the weather. It did not smell and it was OK for showers, but did not pose much confidence for drinking. […] Not expecting that at a 3 star hotel. The hotel was under renovation. Located in the perfect part of town. A good class hotel, but was under construction when I was there. Rooms are a lil small, but comfortable. Nice indoor pool, although looks a bit dirty

I loved this hotel! The room was nice, the indoor pool was awesome! We ate at the restaurant at the train depot and had a great lunch buffet. The front desk staff were very nice.

we had 2 rooms at the hotel and we both really enjoyed it. the people at the hotel were so friendly and eager to help even on a good place to eat. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

My family of 4 had a great time at this hotel. The only knock was a 2:20 a.m. and 3:30 a.m train passing through.(horns blowing) Once you find parking just stay there, parking lot was full. You can walk to old downtown just 3 or 4 minutes away. Lots of good food and bars to have a cold one. The room was clean and accomodating. The pool was a murky green, and was of concern to us. The room air condition did not cool as much as we wanted.

This was our Ist part of a 4 day vacation to the Grand Canyon. We stayed here two days to take the train to the Grand Canyon. The rooms were very clean and nice. The staff was friendly and nice. They are renovating the hotel. It will look extra nice when finished. *I recommend that they offer a "Free Continental Breakfast" considering the price of […] the rooms. Lesser hotels at least offer that. Hotel room coffee is weak. All in all a very nice hotel that I would recommend only if you are going to take the train to the Grand Canyon. The best hotel in Williams and the Canyon railway. But Williams is very small and isolated. Do not expect too much

This was an okay hotel, and we were fortunate to find a special deal. However, the time that we were there the hotel is obviously going through a major renovation both inside and out. Paint and scaffolding inside and out needed to be dodged. It could be really nice if they finish it. My REAL complaint is the pool. The smell of chlorine was overwhelming […] when we walked into the room. But the pool was cloudy and had a greenish scum on the sides and bottom. The jacuzzi was no better. The hotel is ok. We were there while they were remodeling so it was a mess. The rooms are small. Not really worth the price tag. The best thing about it is it is right across the walk way from the grand canyon train station.

A good hotel if you plan to take the train to the Grand Canyon. Otherwise, there is not much of a reason to stay at this very basic hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but there are definitely no frills. Food is available across the street, but the menu is basic. The train loads across the street and that trip is quite enjoyable.

Hotel basic but pricey compared to the others used during our trip around Arizona.

I was there for the HOG Rally and I appreciated the fact that we could park the bikes and walk everywhere in town. There was maintenance going on around the hotel but I never heard it. My bed and pillows were VERY comfortable and the shower/bathroom was very clean too. I would definitely stay here again! The breakfast buffet was good too!

the hotel i located very central in the beautiful city of williams. The area seems a little industrial but yuo can wark to the main street in about 5 minutes.

Starting with unenthusiastic service to failure to provide the amenities listed at Hotels.com (free wireless internet was promised but I was informed that a new service provider now charged a daily rate, which the Hotel wouldn't pay to honor the promise made when I booked the reservation.). The only reason to stay at this hotel would be if you are taking the train to the Grand Canyon but I would suggest you stay elsewhere in town. You can still take the train. The only thing that was comfortable about our room was the bed. The rest of the room was dark and depressing. It was difficult finding a parking space. Although the hotel was remodeling out side, inside was nice and stuff were very friendly. I think I will stay again.

The hotel staff was friendly. Convenient restaurant on site and restaurants in the town 1 block away. The rooms were relatively clean but a little older. Needed new shower head and curtain. Grounds and lobby were well kept. Bar in lobby for drinks and smaller menu. We drove to Grand Canyon though train would have been fun if we wanted to be gone full […] day. The hotel does not allow their guests to bring their guns on the premesis. There is no sign unil after you check in and walk out the back to the depot. Some people do carry their weapons, including law enforcement and this is very inconvenient. It shoud be posted on the site.

We have stayed here before. Love the location. We have taken the train from the hotel into the Grand Canyon and back before what a wonderful experience. I am aware that you can get closer to the Grand Canyon but why? This area is rich in History and the hotel provides a place to come and go from in the heart of it.

This is the best place to stay when visiting the Grand Canyon. The rooms are comfortable, the indoor pool and hot tub are luxurious, and a state of the art gym, this place has it all. The trains provide round trip transport the the south rim of the Grand Canyon with spectacular views. Williams is a nice quiet little town, with route 66 running right […] through the middle of town. Old hotel. Nice personnel, poor location (in Williams, AZ, 1 hr from the Grand Canyon), but then the whole town is kind of sleepy and boring. My main beef was the outrageous charge for wi-fi. The concierge told me that it was expensive because "it's a small town." Yet, down the street, the Knights Inn offers free wi-fi service.
